Has Taz or anyone discussed why he was constantly used as Austin’s personal whipping boy throughout the Alliance storyline. Seemed like every week Taz was either being verbally dressed down by Austin or got his ass kicked (at one point being literally whipped by Austin).
I know Taz had been booked like crap for a year and a half at this point, but this almost seemed like a joke by someone in the back with how much Taz got his ass handed to him by Austin.

So during Taz's ECW reign in 1999, he pretty much bad mouthed Austin, Rock or Foley in promos during his ECW Title reign, depending on who the WWF Champion was at the time. So my guess is, this was WWF's way of getting back at Taz to put him in his place.
Then Tazz got rewarded with a WWF Tag Title reign with Spike Dudley because he was officially a WWF star, no longer seen as an ECW guy.

Didn't Austin call him short and fat during a promo once? There was no real coming back from that!

I thought it was going to be a vehicle to try and rebuild Taz a bit at the time. He got a pretty good pop on Smackdown when he finally stood up to Austin from what I remember but then it went nowhere. I would have liked a Austin/Taz feud even if just for a few weeks as a TV only angle.

I would have liked a Austin/Taz feud even if just for a few weeks as a TV only angle. There’s a few segments from that timeframe where Taz looked like he was finally gonna snap on Austin, only for Austin to pull the trigger first every time and beat the hell out of him. Would have been cool to see Taz be the “mole” at Survivor Series and costing Austin the match, but even then I doubt a feud would have gone anywhere with Austin going face the next night.

He was ECW Taz that night.... then in the summer of 2000 Vince had him become a true WWE Tazz with wearing track pants while wrestling.

Remember how big of a deal it was for a WWF contracted wrestler in Tazz to defeat a WCW contracted wrestler in Mike Awesome for the ECW World Title at an ECW show?? Then Triple H pedigreed him on Smackdown and pinned the ECW Champion right in the middle of a WWF ring.... that sums up all ya need to know about Tazz's WWF run.

Yeah definitely. They hyped it up real big at the time. Then they do the champ vs champ in Philly and he loses.... So deflating for all of us Tazmaniacs

And they have Dreamer do a run in and make him look like a goof with how he messed up and caused Tazz to lose.
Vince may as well just bought ECW right then and there with how he treated the ECW talent. I am shocked the Dudley's were pushed as well as they were to be honest.

Raven is another one. Huge pop in Philly at Unforgiven that year and then he's thrown in a team with Taz that went nowhere Then he goes in the hardcore scene which he was entertaining in dont get me wrong but it couldve been so much more if they treated em like how he was in ECW

So the story goes is that Vince said, "who hired Raven?!?" Vince hates Raven. Not because of anything wrestling wise, but because during the Johnny Polo days, it seemed Shane McMahon and Johnny Polo were best friends. They'd go out every night drinking and Shane would call Vince and say, "Vince, I am with Johnny Polo, we are having a blast!" and Vince would just get so mad.
