how would it have played out?
Say Bret does defeat Yoko at Mania
How would you book Hogan and Beefcake as tag champs?
I've been thinking about how I would book it, and I can't come up with anything!

It's hard, mainly because they have the Steiner Brothers who were ready to take the titles. Also, I don't think Hogan was there for the long haul, he was there for WrestleMania and a European tour, and that was it. So I would have them when it at WM9, then have them lose it at King of the Ring 1993. This way you get the pop of them winning it at WM, it doesn't hurt Money Inc. at all by losing, they win it back from Hogan/Beefcake at KOTR, then lose it to the Steiner's before Summer Slam.
Since Bret would still be champion, that means he wouldn't be in the KOTR tournament, and we wouldn't get the Mr. Perfect match. But, since I'm booking it, have Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart for the WWF title at KOTR in a rematch of their classic Summer Slam match. Have it go the exact same way. Then I'd have the Narcissist win the KOTR tournament and face Bret Hart at Summer Slam.

This is a very hard one. I don't see them dropping the titles to anyone other than back to Money Inc. Also since it's the star power of Hogan it's not like they'd hotshot the change on an episode of Superstars, All American or even Raw. I guess King of the Ring would be the place for the change and then they could get moved to the Steiners like they actually did. However, in my world the Steiners title win would be televised. That's bothered me all these years.

I could see at that time where they do a "Beefcake's injured his face again, the tag titles are being stripped of Hogan and Beefcake and put in a tournament" where maybe it comes down to the Steiner's vs. Money Inc. as the final teams for the tag titles.

money inc wins it back at kotr 93 with interference from giant gonzales who dibiase paid to help, injuring beefer, and then having a small fued/match with hulk at summrslam. Attachment Deletedyoko wins belt at mania, beats another contender at kotr93, rest of kotr/summerslam 93 goes as is.

It would have resulted in the same scenario where the titles would have been obsolete afterwards because Hogan wasn't around. It was obvious that the Steiners were slated to be the top tag team in the division so it would have hurt their momentum having another face team eclipse them.
After he beat Yokozuna for the belt, I don't think Hogan appeared on television again until King of the Ring. Over two months where your champion and the most prestigious title in your company aren't featured at all. Not even once. The WrestleMania IX shenanigans have been discussed to death already, but it really was such a terrible decision to give Hogan that last reign. No wonder Bret was pissed.

I remember Hogan appearing in a few taped promos during this reign and not much else. He spent quite a bit of time wrestling in Japan. He had a pretty good match with Great Muta. He also had the infamous interview with the Japanese press where he called the WWF title his toy that he can take whenever he wants. If the internet and social media were big in ‘93 I bet that would’ve set off a powder keg.
