Woo hoo! Thanks PJ! Came across this Tin Lunchbox yesterday at a Walmart that doesn't carry Pokemon cards regularly, so I tested my luck. This came with the Lunch Box itself, 3 promo Holds, a Charizard Coin, 5 Booster packs of cards, a Notepad, Stickers, and a mini portfolio to put 30 cards in sleeves. All for under 25 bucks, I figured for that price what I got was a decent enough! Didn't get anything major from the booster packs but happy with my purchase anyways.

I haven’t got anything new in a while, last time I was at Target they had Elite Trainer boxes of a few recent expansions. Should have snagged one but I was already spending too much that day.

I tried getting back into the TCG a few years ago, but there's so many different products available and so many new Pokémon (Anyone else remember when there were just 150?)
I'm floating the idea of getting back into them again, but haven't a clue where to start. Any tips?

If anyone is actually interested in collecting the cards and wants to learn about upcoming releases, there is a forum that relates to Pokemon cards specifically. Its called the E4 forum. The forum has some of the biggest and most influential members within the hobby. efour.proboards.com/

If your looking for the original 151 Pokemon or something nostalgic, I recommend buying Pokemon celebrations packs if you can find them as they are cheap and can be found in stores occasionally still. If you want the original cards from Wizards of the Coast era then eBay is the best option and you can find cheap old cards if you don't care about conditions and just want to make a binder set. www.google.com/search?q=pokemon+celebrations&oq=pokemon+celebrations&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512l6j69i61.4996j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8Pokemon celebrations product is very fun and cheap to collect.

Thank you for that! The Celebrations product does look intriguing!

My nephews really into the cards now, just as I got out of it. He was showing me his binder the other day, some of those VMAX cards are stunning to look at!

My friend and I stopped playing around the time of the Neo expansion where they first expanded past 150, and picked up again around midway through the XY era. It’s a lot to get used to, especially if you try and play the game now with all the different rules in effect. But it’s a fun time, and there’s still a rush of dopamine when you pull that sweet hologram/full-art card!

Anyone have any info on the upcoming Pokémon go series?

That Pokemon TCG online thing is pretty underrated. I don't know if people just aren't giving it a shot or assume it sucks, I enjoyed it. They're dirt cheap too. I found myself inputting hundreds of online codes at once with packs going back to Evolutions. Scratched the itch a little bit.

That Ditto Pokémon Go card is something else. Always nice to see something new from TPC, that said looking forward to saying sayonara to the Vs and Vmaxs. Thinking of skipping astral radiance completely to save for the Pokémon go set.
TCG online is very addictive, haven’t tried the new app yet but loved playing for a few months last year - just nukes my loyal laptop tho.

The new Ditto card is an incredible idea, and such a breath of fresh air. I hadn't seen V's and VMAX's were done, has there been any word on what's replacing them?
I'll be picking up some of the new Go set for my nephew though.

I was wondering if the new V-Union format would replace the current V & VMAX mechanic. I'm never sure how these things will play out, since some mechanics last a LONG time, like EX/GX/V, but others like Break and Tag Teams only got 2-3 expansions.
I just looked up that Ditto card, apparently there will be different ones that are literally hidden? That's insane, I bet they're gonna be crazy collectible.

Interesting idea for the new cards! But the question I would ask all of you is...
Would you peel or not?
I think I would.

My only quibble with the peeling would be, it’s not the playdoh ditto being other Pokémon… it’s just random other mon’s cards in the set. It’s going to be interesting to see how frequent they are, hope they’re attainable but still quite rare. I’ve opened a lot of brilliant stars and not seen a single Vstar soo hope it’s not that hard to pull one.
I figured with the new games and gen, they’d swap Vs out for something new as they did with GX - i mean, full arts are insane but it would be fine to me if they just did full art Pokemon without a couple random letters after. Just ditch it but we’ll see what they come up with.

It won't happen, but the amount of Ultra Rare cards in sets now put me off big time. During the XY era I only had to order a couple booster boxes for opening then just buy the other handful I needed. When Sun and Moon dropped I was out, buying a booster CASE would have wielded you with 1 Secret Rare and there was like 12 a set. Just not doable for me and I'm sure other people were in the same boat.

I doubt I’ll peel the Dittos, I’m never gonna use them in play so it wouldn’t make sense for me. I’ll probably keep them in a binder and just hold onto them, same way I did with the Shiny Pokemon from Hidden Fates.
I forget which expansion it was, but it was maybe 2 years ago, where they had secret rare cards that would be pulled more frequently that were just full art versions of basic Pokémon in the set. There was a Pikachu with Red, a Koffing, and a bunch of others. I liked that because it was a secret rare, but relatively easy to obtain, and you had more options to trade since other people were getting them too. Wasn’t like trying to find an all-gold Ultra Necrozma from Dragon Majesty or whatever else was floating around at the time.

Like there’s 100+ odd secret rares in astral radiance if you count all the vs, vmax and vstars and trainer gallery cards. That’s insane. Used to be wild to get a trainer full art but now there’s like a thousand, it doesn’t mean as much to me. I used to buy black and white Japan booster boxes because I could get most of what I liked in the set from them and then pick up the one or two cards I didn’t get to finish the set. Let’s get back to 120 card sets and with 10-15 secret rares max 🥺.

I know a few guys that want to pack pull every card rather than buying them on eBay so the amount of packs/ETB's/Booster Boxes it'd take to pull everything is insane. With Scarlett and Violet I'd love them to go back to smaller sets but it ain't gonna happen. For Pokemon, Pokemon cards is like printing money. They know we'll all still buy them.
