Abadi Global Enterprises Acquires the Wrestlingfigs Wrestling Federation
In a surprising move to many, Abadi Global Enterprises has acquired the Wrestlingfigs Wrestling Federation after almost a year of inactivity for the promotion.
Regina, Saskatchewan. Abadi Global Enterprises, the organization created and operated by Saskatchewan Roughriders owner Khalil Abadi, has acquired the Wrestlingfigs Wrestling Federation, the longstanding professional wrestling league. The official announcement was made this morning in Regina following a lengthy arbitration process due to the WFWF's complicated ownership history. The move to acquire the WFWF first started late last year after the company was rendered insolvent with then-owner Kris Kash unwilling to invest private capital to cover the cost of operations. The process took several months and, as stated previously, the final terms of the acquisition were not settled on until this morning.
“The WFWF has two decades of history with some of the biggest stars in professional wrestling having made their names there." said Bobby Abadi, son of Khalil Abadi. “We believe that with the right business plan and a focus on showcasing the best the world has to offer in professional wrestling, the WFWF can once again reign supreme in the industry.””
The acquisition of the Wrestlingfigs Wrestling Federation fits into Abadi Global Enterprises' strategy to expand its sports operations beyond the borders of Canada and into the United States. By purchasing the WFWF, AGE will have an established sports brand at a time where live television is more valuable than ever due to the rise in streaming platforms. Furthermore, it was announced that Khalil Abadi's son Bobby Abadi will be the acting President of the revived WFWF which will serve as his first foray into an executive position.
“I have been a wrestling fan my entire life and the WFWF has always been one of my favorite companies. I believe with my expertise on the sport as well as my family's expertise in managing successful sports enterprises, we will bring the WFWF back to its former prominence!” said Bobby Abadi.
Though precise details were scarce, it was announced that when the WFWF resumes operation it will be running in a touring format with time between tours for the roster to recover from the stresses of active competition. The first tour will begin in the third week of June and has been dubbed the "WFWF Ascension Tour". For more information we will have to wait for the official press conference which will be held two weeks from today on June 2nd where many more details regarding the specifics of this revival will be announced.
