Building the collection. Building an army of heroes and an army of villains to display on opposing sides. When the toy that you want released in your collection gets announced.

This might be strange...but I love that new Mattel figure smell. The first thing I do upon popping a new elite or ultimate out of the plastic is give it a good sniff. Thereās nothing like that old jakks smell tho Jakks BCA smell is like a time machine. The smell from opening up a BCA figure, momentarily takes me right back to 1997/1998. Iāve got my Monster Ring set up, all my figures laying out to the side in match order, and Iām ready to play.

figures for me are like little moments frozen in time. whenever i pick up a figure i get a flood of specific memories that bring back great nostalgia. whether it be reminding me of an old figure i had as a kid, a memory of a match or storyline that took place in the ring or one that played out in my fed. these days, the biggest thing that i get out of figure collecting is the fact that i get to treat myself in a specfic way that no one else could. when i was a kid i grew up.....lower middle class. my family would be shopping at bargain brand stores; mind you i always had food to eat, clothes to wear and a warm home, but as a kid i did way more 'window shopping' and wishing than i did playing with the toys i really desired. thumbing through the toy section of the newspapers and putting stars by the figures i wanted to buy. id turn them into my parents in hopes that they would surprise me, but my bins continuously filled up with dollar store guys; its not that they didnt care its just that they didnt understand. and, its also really cool to know that my main hobby is buying $20 figures here and there and not buying motorcycles or cars or other obnoxious things I really like this. Iāve got so many memories from growing up watching wrestling or playing with my wrestling figures, and collecting now as an adult really helps tap into those memories. It helps me go back to those ālittle moments frozen in timeā. Taking me back to the emotions from a wrestling memory or the fun from my playing days as a kid.

We really live in the golden age of collecting. Sure it will always be a bit concerning that toys and toy retailers seem to be fading from the public consciousness, but when has there ever been such a comprehensive, wide-ranging assortment of products on the market? You have high quality elite and ultimate lines, still-affordable basic lines (something not to scoff at these days), retro lines, superstars lines, legends figures, Mattel takes heat because no company can please everybody all the time, but we get a LOT of what we want most of the time.

Sadly...the part I like is gone. The element of surprise...
I remember going into my local asda (Walmart for most of you) and seeing hasbro series 7 for the first time ever. (I never bought the mags so had no idea).
Standing there having to choose only 2 of the 6 coolest things I had ever seen....
I picked hbk and razor. Which two would you have picked?

I love,
Belts: How much detailed they are at such a small scale
Elite: Wrestler with a great head scan and a spot on attire. Especially if they come with the right accessories (cloth)

The nostalgia and memories from my childhood fuel my collecting. Also when I order a figure that has a regular and a chase and I blindly order 2 and 1 of each arrives it makes my day. Happened today with elite 93 Steamboat from Amazon.

Wrestling has been a life-long passion of mine, as have action figures. It's only logical I'm a collector.
Nostalgia also plays a part, specifically 90s WCW and New Gen/Attitude/Ruthless Aggression WWE. Wasn't old enough to experience the Golden Era first hand but flea market tapes and later The Network helped in that regard.

Nostalgia and as a result legends. Especially new looks or FTiTL.
