The Sasha and Naomi debacle has reminded me just how very little I care about the women’s tag titles and how, with very few exceptions, they are completely pointless. I figured now was a good time to look back and think about the lineage, the storied history of the least important title in the company that isn’t the 24/7 title, the Women’s Tag Titles. Who wore them best?
My opinion, the best were Nia and Shayna followed by the Kabuki Warriors followed by the IIconics. After these three teams they should’ve retired the titles. Only two of these women are still with the company. (Next champs, Shayna and Asuka, because why the Hell not?) Hell, the NXT women’s tag titles are more interesting than the WWE version.
But that’s enough of my venom-laced soliloquy about the women’s tag belts. Let’s go to the phones….

Rhea Ripley and Nikki Cross won the tag titles? In one universe, that sounds awesome. In this one I had no idea they were a team 😂

Probably Nia and Shayna. They’re the only team I remember having a good run with the titles.

Bayley and Sasha by a mile. Actually, the gap is wider than that.
Asuka and Kairi never got the run they should have had, which is disappointing.

None. The titles never should’ve been created.

When the titles were created you could have built the division on Mandy Rose/Sonya Deville, Iiconics and the Riott Squad, but then they decided to give the titles originally to Sasha Banks and Bayley and it always felt like they only became champions so all four Horsewomen could all be crowned as first ever, (Flair: Raw Women's Champion, Lynch: SmackDown Women's Champion and now Banks/Bayley: Tag Team Women's Champions), but alot of the teams who won the belts have pretty much been pairs of Single wrestlers put in a team to win the gold then drop the titles to split up afterwards.
Imo, the only team to actually hold the titles were the Iiconics. WWE then decided to split them up then place them in different tag teams then release them. How did Mandy Rose/Sonya Deville and the Riotts not win the titles? They split up Rose and Deville to put Rose in another team while Deville spent time off TV(I understand her situation and it cannot be helped) while now Deville had a brief spell as a GM's assistant and Rose is apparently smashing it in NXT, so at least something came out splitting up for both of them.
The Riotts could have dominated the Tag Division, either holding the titles with the Freebirds rule or have Morgan/Logan holding them while Riott herself can try and win the singles title on her brand, but no (I think) Riott got hurt, while Logan turned on Morgan, then Riott returned and also turned on Morgan but didn't team with Logan, then Logan got released, they put Riott and Morgan back together to release Riott.
As much as I dislike them, they could pull off a Bella Twin reign with the gold, but after all the terrible ideas of teams who held the title, the belts should just not have happened, just another excuse to pat themselves on the back for another First Ever.

I had no clue half of these teams were champions.

I picked the IIconics just because I found Billie Kay to be a tall, sexy, diva like women's wrestler. And honestly, sex sales. So I was invested in her and the team.

I actually like Carmella and Zelina, two just totally delusional heels who think they run the world. Fun stuff.

I was a really big fan of the Kabuki Warriors when they were champs. I also really liked Sasha and Bayley when they were doing their Golden Role Models thing, however. It may have been during the pandemic era but it was really a great time for those two as characters and I think at that point the titles felt the most legitimate in their short history.
