It is pretty well known that Stephanie McMahon and Triple H too, were really behind the women's revolution, and we started to see actual women wrestler's and not former fitness models or bikini models get into the business to make money and not know what the hell they are doing.
But with Stephanie gone now, and Triple H's health in jeopardy, and with Bruce, Johnny and Nick all kissing Vince's ass, will we start to see more of the fitness and bikini models become WWE "divas" instead of wrestlers in the WWE?? It seems with looking at NXT that it looks to be the case with what women are coming into the company now.
It just seems that the women's division now compared to let's say 2016 - 2019 is a complete night and day. The women are dressing sexier now like they did in the Diva's era of things and the matches seem a bit more sloppier than they did a few years ago too.

Yes, I think WWE will see its womens division fall back a few steps now that Steph is out. Expect more that look like Alexa Bliss that can do spots only.

It isn't going to help. I think Johnny being back in power is the more dangerous part, but the women have lost a lot of their allies in management, that's for sure. I don't think that tag title tournament is going to happen, and I'd actually be surprised if those belts ever get put on someone again. Can see them just "forgetting" and phasing them out completely with Sasha gone.

Stephanie was vital in driving the women’s evolution, but the positioning of women as main event competitors is established now. Belair, Flair, Lynch and Rousey are four of the top stars in the company in their own right. They’re needed for the main segments of the TV shows as well as headlining live events. And as such, they’ll always need NXT to churn out credible opponents (and eventual replacements) for those spots.

Well, maybe you could tack it onto the long list of reasons the WWE Women's divison is floundering. But the "hurt" is already really relevant among the women. Its been a cycle of the same matches and characters basically since live crowds returned for good. Not much has been refreshed or well-received in the women's division for close to a year now.
A few things stick out in my mind as really positive, but for the most part: Charlotte's reign of doom; Nikki A.S.H. set up to fail miserably; lackluster return of Ronda; totally meaningless tag titles; Dana and Tamina 24/7 title love connection; and the same matches being booked over and over again. The most buzz-worthy thing to come out of WWE's women in the last 18 months happened to be two women leaving the company.
Its a very uninteresting time for women's wrestling in the WWE, unforunately, which is a shame because their roster is undeniably stacked. But much like the rest of the product right now, its totally directionless and it makes it very difficult for passionate fans to be interested in any way.
Did you guys know there's a PPV this weekend?

John Laurinaitis is the biggest threat. In the past he been known to hire women because of their looks rather than wrestling skills and I remember he tried to stop AJ Lee's push back in 2012.
I would really worry if the woman's Rumble is cancelled and the matches get shorter.

It'd not shock me one bit if Steph chose to leave her role not because of what we read, but because of the WWE's ideas for the future of the womens division.
