I'm actually pleased with the Sting figures we had... the main looks of his career were covered. The only issues I have are the torso choice for the Elite Surfer Stings and the GAB head/likeness... I get what they were going for, but it didn't really work. A GAB Sting with multiple heads and a soft-goods jacket (or swappable arms like the Bret one) would have been awesome. I didn’t like the torso choice, or leg choice for his surfer attires. The torso and legs were quite the opposite. He should of had something like the Austin torso and thick Dolph Ziggler legs. Now Crow Sting had a singlet that was too small for his legs. His legs were super stumpy and the boots weren’t accurate to the ones he wore. Sting wore tall boots from ‘96 to ‘98. I also felt like Hawk/Bret arms were more appropriate. They had mass, but weren’t chiseled like Ultimate Warrior. I feel this should have been Sting’s body…but with the DM Steamboat/E19 Ziggler arms. As they were still big but didn’t have the shark fin tricep like the Triple H arms. Hell even if they just gave him the Austin torso and kept everything else the same I would/could have been much happier with the proportions of his figures.

I wonder what happened to all those canceled Legends Stings. I bet they’re in a warehouse somewhere. The other figures in that wave were released right around the same time as Sting was canceled.

I did the same with my GAB Sting. It’s a shame because Steve said if Mattel still had the rights to Sting that he would of been in the UE line both in surfer and crow attires. Makes me wonder what could of been.

I feel like a Mattel boxset would be basic figures, as with Undertaker and Rey. So I’d go with…
Network Spotlight orange tights White tights from two-pack W/Undertaker Flashback black/orange gear w/brown hair Basic 55 crow Sting Basic 68 crow long hair Sting Modern Sting from 2-pack W/Warrior

God, Sting was so cool before the Crow rip-off crap.

The fact that Mattel never made a Surfer Sting retro while he was under contact is simply baffling

COTC 1 Sting will always be my #1 wanted Sting. Still gutted Mattel never made it: I made my own although I put the scorpion upside down. Grr! And the face paint was as close I could get without a clear photo of it. (Everything out there is so grainy) But that certainly would be on my list of 10 needed figures to do an Evolution of Sting set. My list of Sting attires would be this… CotC ‘88(?)
GAB ‘90
Starrcade ‘90
BeachBlast’92
The yellow & purple used in WWE2k
BatB ‘96
Starrcade ‘97
Regular Crow Sting
Wolfpac Sting
Modern Sting
