Maybe I’m crazy… maybe… but each time I’ve watched a AEW ladder match, the refs diving in and holding ladders in place has been so distracting and obvious. It’s like woahhh, why are you doing that??! It’s definitely something I’ve been aware of having happened in ladder matches and in WWE but it just feels to me that in Aew, it’s done in a much less subtle way.
Anyone else notice this?

it’s something that has been seen in promotions outside wwe. I don’t see an issue with it. sure, in a perfect world, there’s no referee assistance but I would prefer it to potentially injury inducing botches.

Yeah I can't remember the last time in any promotion I didn't notice that. Well, some low budget indies that couldn't afford a ladder holder I suppose lol. But beyond that I'm pretty used to it. Looks a little awkward but w/e, better than the alternative.

Honestly though, luchasaurus starts to climb, he’s not even on the ladder and both of them are leaping in there like interjecting parties… looked vaaaary silly.

There was one point Wednesday where a second ref jumped into the ring and helped hold the ladder, and then later jumped out of the ring. If you have to make a spot look that stupid just to be safe, than don't do the spot. The ref "deciding" to hold the ladder to keep the wrestlers safe makes sense. A wrestler telling a ref to hold the ladder makes sense. A second ref randomly jumping into the ring looks like overly planned garbage. I'd rather not see it at all than get used to it.

Reffing in AEW is atrocious in general, I'm used to it now but it's comically bad.

I think it makes sense within the context of kayfabe that AEW's refs have a duty of care for the wrestlers in their match to hold a ladder steady for them as they climb it.

I does look silly and makes the matches look staged.

I don’t think any of you are necessarily wrong, just pretty judgmental considering every promotion in history has had it’s plot holes, so to speak. that’s my take at least.

I'd rather a ref hold a ladder and the spot be pulled off than a botch.
Surely everyone would?!
