Big fan of these threads so wanted to do one of my own. Currently watching Kurt vs Undertaker from No Way Out 06 and I honestly believe if he were to stay healthy and didn’t unfortunately battle substance abuse issues, Kurt would be in conversation as the greatest in ring worker of all time. So, what is your personal Mount Rushmore of Kurt Angle WWE matches?

I’d go with the same choices as yourself tbh... honourable mentions goes to his matches with Benoit, Eddie, Rey etc.

Kurt vs Rey from Summerslam is probably my favorite openers of all time though to be honest. |

/Benoit vs Edge/Mysterio - No Mercy 02
vs Benoit - Rumble 03
vs Michaels - Wrestlemania XXI
One of my all time favorite wrestlers. The Shane match could probably be replaced by like 4 or 5 other matches, but I have felt for awhile like it just belongs on his list of best matches in WWE. About a year later in 02 was when Angle really found his groove imo.
The tag match at No Mercy has to be in my list of all time favorite WWE matches and is still my favorite tag match of all time.
Kurt Angle just f'n rules.

Not bringing anything new here but when I think of Kurt WWE matches, the main ones that come to mind are:
vs. Benoit at Rumble 2003
Vs Austin at Summerslam 2001
Vs Undertaker at No Way Out 2006
vs HBK at Mania 21
There were other good marches and moments in some of the rematches to those and a few others I have soft spots for or the fact my list omits some of the great Brock matches but those four are the ones I feel are the definitive ones if limited to four.

Angles matches with Lesnar were some of the best I’ve ever seen! They deserve to be on the Mount Rushmore 100%.

Man, Kurt was so freaking good! No matter if he was playing the goofball or the wrestling machine he made it believable! The first three I picked were easy to lockdown, but that fourth one could probably change depending on the day I did this! Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania 21: I actually had a hard time picking between this and the match the two had a Vengeance a couple of months later as they are both fantastic, but I think that this one edges it out just for me. Two guys who gave absolutely everything in this match, plus the build-up to this was incredible and as much as I love HBK, I have to give 90 percent of the credit in this regard to Shawn Michaels. Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon: King of the Ring 2001: What a brutal, brutal match this is! It is one of the most violent and over-the-top matches the WWE ever put on and it was kind of hard to watch. Those German suplex through the glass in particular make me wince everytime I see them! I have to say that I think Kurt Angle put on two amazing performances at this King of the Ring and also the 2000 King of the Ring as well, I have actually always had a softspot for him finals match against Rikishi the year prior too. Kurt Angle vs Steve Austin: SummerSlam 2001: Austin and Kurt had such great chemistry together and this match delivered big time! I was a huge fan of the story leading into this one and Stone Cold playing the paranoid leader of the alliance was just so much fun. I know that many people hate the Alliance storyline and I fully understand why, but during the time I was hooked on it and this is one of my favorite matches from it. Kurt Angle vs Chris Jericho: Rebellion 2001: This fourth one on my list could have honestly been about 10 different matches, but on this Monday morning I was really feeling this one. I always loved the chemistry that Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho had and this is a really fun match from the Alliance era. I was there live for this one so I am clearly a bit biased towards it and while the match may be a tad short, I would probably class this one as a bit of a hidden gem. I truly do miss these UK PPVs that we used to get. I know that for most people they were a glorified house show with a better production budget and I get that, but they were so much fun and had many great and underrated matches on them. I do not think there was anyone that Kurt did not click with, I really wanted the triple threat match with him, Rock and Taker on here, but I think I have already put that on other mount Rushmore so I decidede to give it a bit of a rest  |
