I know that this may sound like a cheap shot, but I legit think that Michael Cole is one of the worst commentators in WWE history, his play by play is a huge reason as to why I have such a hard time sitting through the modern product. I know that he is being fed what to say a great deal of the time, but he has had go away heat with me for at least a decade! I liked his paring with Taz in the early 00s, but ugh, he just flat out sucks! As much deserved grief as I’ve given Cole, I could never say I hate the guy because his voice is just as synonymous with my childhood as JR and King so I’ll always have a soft spot for the guy.

For my age, and for who I've heard growing up without looking back further I'd say:
Jim Ross, Paul Heyman, Joey Styles & Mike Tenay.

I never liked Cole. He was really atrocious during those early years. Only positive was King ripping on em

I liked Cole around 03-07 tbh and thought his heel run was funny lol but during his early days he was meh.

I am gonna do it differently, I am gonna pick the four best announce teams together
Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse Ventura - They made the PPV events in the WWF so much fun to watch.
Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby Heenan - They worked so well together playing off each other with zingers.
Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura - They had great chemistry in WCW in 1992 - 1994 when they worked together.
Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler - They were the voices of the attitude era for all the big events and moments.

But I'd put Jesse & Vince in there in place of Schiavone and Ventura.

If there was a top 5 then Vince and Jesse would have made the cut. I just preferred the WCW work that Tony and Jesse did together on World Wide Wrestling and then later on WCW Saturday Night after Jim Ross left the company.

one of the easiest ones yet...
Jim Ross Jerry Lawler Gorilla Monsoon Jesse Ventura
Bobby Heenan was pure class too but IMHO? Ventura just pips him as the ex heel wrestler. On the subject of Cole? I couldn't stand him since about 2008. New Gen Vince is another eye roller.
