These threads are really hot right now so figured I'd give it another go...
Gorilla Monsoon-The best play by play man ever in the biz IMO.
Jesse Ventura- When you look at heel announcers, look no further.I also loved how he spoke truth and made big matches feel legit.Plus him ripping on Hogan will never get old
Bobby Heenan-The only other guy on Jesse's level. His quick wit and chemistry with Gorilla will forever be unmatched.
Jerry Lawler- My 3rd fav on color. Loved the runs he had with Vince and JR.
If I went with 2 play by play, JR wouldve been the other but making this thread I had my fav play by play and 3 fav on color immediately so went with em.

Gorilla Monsoon Bobby Heenan Jesse Ventura Vince McMahon (I liked him in the 90s before his heel “Mr McMahon” character was born. I haven’t liked him since.)

Bobby Heenan The Brain The weasel Ric Flair’s financial consultant
Seriously though
Bobby Heenan Gorilla Monsoon Lord Alfred Hayes Jim Ross
I found Lord Alfred Hayes so endearing. Came across as a lovely man but always seemed to favour the heels. Quite unique I thought. The others don’t really need an explanation.

Another tough one. I'd go with:
Jesse, Heenan, Gorilla, Lawler.

Great choice buddy, I or someone else will have to do one on backstage personalities at some point too Bobby the Brain Heenan: He was just so much fun and so entertaining, no matter who he was paired with you knew that you were in for a great time. I think all his ripping on Boss Man's momma was probably my favorite stuff of his. Gorilla Monsson: The straight man to Heenan or Ventura's heel antics! I always liked how serious he was "will you be serious" and thought that he with Jesse or Heenan was pure gold. Jesse Ventura: He was so, so good! I liked him no matter if he was with Vince or Gorilla. He was always rooting for the heels and in 1992, all his criticisms of Hulk Hogan I felt were vindicated because of Hogan's actions in the 92 Rumble! Jim Ross: How can you not have good old JR on this list. His voice is burned into so many of our brains. Even these days on AEW, I still really enjoy his commentary. I have two main honorable mentions, Vince McMahon and Jerry the King Lawler, I really liked both these guys and actually I would have to say that I also enjoyed Piper when he was on commentary in the early 90s too.

I know that this may sound like a cheap shot, but I legit think that Michael Cole is one of the worst commentators in WWE history, his play by play is a huge reason as to why I have such a hard time sitting through the modern product. I know that he is being fed what to say a great deal of the time, but he has had go away heat with me for at least a decade!
I liked his paring with Taz in the early 00s, but ugh, he just flat out sucks!

I liked his paring with Taz in the early 00s, but ugh, he just flat out sucks! Yeah, he can be unbearable at times. I think what hurt him the most was when they made him the heel announcer to Lawler's babyface, it just didn't work. Like you said, he had that go away heat instead of making people want to stay and watch/listen.
