He was the greatest wrestling promoter to ever do it. Easily.
He took the WWWF that his dad had run New York, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Boston, and made it a global phenomenon with the WWF and the birth of Hulkamania in the WWF in January 1984.
It's funny in a way, Vince saw a new era of where wrestling should go with taking the belt off Bob Backlund - who his dad loved - to put it on Hulk Hogan - a megastar in the making - and helped make the WWF a world wide known sports entertainment business.
Yet, Vince couldn't see that change needed to be made in the past 10 years of the WWE, thus bringing in the bad ratings and fans being bored with the product. I know why he is retiring, but I think if his name wasn't dragged into the mud like it has been in the past month or so, that Vince would still be the head guy running the WWE in his position.
However, with that said, I am willing to be that Vince isn't done running the WWE just yet. Just because he doesn't have a title to his name, doesn't mean he isn't still pulling the strings of Stephanie, Nick, and everyone else.

Best and worst thing to ever happen to the wrestling business. Will never be topped in both respects ever.

(Insert commentary Vince’s fake laugh)
I firmly believe Austin vs McMahon to be one of, if not the, greatest feuds in wrestling history. You’d tune into RAW each week to see what they’d do to each other next and it was almost always a blast. A lot of the Attitude Era doesn’t hold up, but all of that does for me.
I’m real big into separating the art from the artist, in not too extreme cases. I know Vince is a pretty awful human being. And I don’t agree with most his actions. He did however shape me into the person I am today through his product and his creations. When I had no one, I had pro wrestling. So I can thank him for that.
As a character too, he was highly entertaining. As previously mention, the feud with Austin. But also most things “Mr McMahon” or commentator “Vince McMahon” did entertainer the hell out of me. Sometimes he was so over the top you couldn’t help but laugh.
I don’t think he’s completely gone for now but even if it’s just the end of him on tv or having full control, I have to say thanks to him for his product and what it’s meant to me.

I still find it funny that people even today bemoan Vince going national and killing the territories. If it wasn’t him, Crockett or Verne would’ve tried and who knows where pro wrestling is today.

The greatest heel of all time. No question about it in my mind. From the birth of the Mr. McMahon character in 1997 through the next decade to 2007, the character was must watch TV for me. I felt the character dropped off a cliff big time following WM23, but for a decade, few were as entertaining as Mr. McMahon. You never knew if you’d get a serious or goofy McMahon, but he was entertaining none-the-less.
And that’s not even getting into Vince the business man and what he did to grow the wrestling industry into a world-wide juggernaut.
The past 15 or so years have really damaged his reputation in the eyes of fans due to his stubbornness to do things “his way” and ignore fans, but the industry would be nowhere near what it is today without him.

Hard to put feelings about Vinnie Mac into words really. I genuinely don't think there's anyone that I've been so grateful to that I've been so pissed off at so often. One things for sure...none of us would be members of this forum without him.
Austin vs McMahon is the greatest feud of all time. As Mr McMahon I genuinely feel he was the greatest heel of all time. My GOD the heat he used to get from April 98 to April 99 and beyond was phenomenal.

Read an article earlier stating they might put em in the HOF next year.Austin/Hogan would be my top choices for inductors. Austin preferably. Induct em then give em one more for the road

Induct em then give em one more for the road I could see Cena being included as well. Vince and Cena are very close. Plus you'd have Hogan from Hulkamania Era, AUstin from Attitude Era and Cena from Pg Era
You could even throw in Bret/Shawn for New Generation era (and to be honest The Rock could be thrown in as well, as long as Taker )
