Well..... actually, this probably won't be Flair Forever's last post...... because...... "I WILL.... NEVER RETIRE!"
In celebration of Ric Flair's (probably) Last Match, I wanted to do a fun post that will..... of course..... highlight my favorite wrestling star of all time, Ric Flair!
I've been pretty quiet on here for a while.... the COVID years were not kind to my household, and without getting into too many personal details.... my world is a whole lot different coming out of COVID than it was going in. Due to a lot of personal/family issues, I've gone through some "hard times" - I don't really have the "budget" that I used to have. Went a good year or so without buying any new figures - it just wasn't in the picture as I dealt with real life issues, I had to forget about toys for a while & worry about myself and my family.
But I did keep an eye on things in the wrestling figure world - and noticed that Mattel was cranking out some of their finest work (even though it's often VERY difficult to get our hands on it)!
Recently, life hasn't gotten "normal" but perhaps more "stable".... and I've dipped my toes back into this crazy world of figure-collecting.... below, here are some of my favorite pick-ups!
Elite 92 Ric Flair
Wow, what a great figure! That "Nitro-Era" haircut and a Horseman shirt! It started when I wanted to grab a few extra Flairs for the shirts....
I've never been a huge fan of "customs" or "headswaps".... but since so many figures now come with extra heads, and I had a few extra Flair Elite 92's laying around, AND we probably won't be seeing any new Flair stuff for a while..... time to have some fun!
This one is the Wrestlefest Flair.... with the Elite 92 head..... and the Ultimate Edition robe.... trying to nail that "Nitro" look for Flair....
After doing all these headswaps, I had a few extra Flair bodies..... came up with this, using one of the extra Ultimate Edition heads....
So I had a blast adding some unique Flair stuff to my collection.... thanks, Mattel!
Here are some other random pickups from the last year or so.....
"Build-A-Vince" - - - got this online from Facebook Market for $30, with was a GREAT deal for me - since I never saw the set at retail, and wasn't sure I even wanted the figures I would have needed to get this built..... so I feel like I got a good deal....
Picked up a "Damaged Packaging" Chase Greg Valentine from Ringside. Did I miss this at retail, or was it never at retail? Might have been out during my "dark" period....
New World Order..... damn I had a hard time finding Hall & Nash at retail..... I got 'em, though! Thanks Target....
Ultimate Hollywood Hogan has to be one of Mattel's greatest works ever..... fantastic figure here!
Speaking of Hogan, also got the new Elite at GameStop..... another fine quality figure!
Legends Series 14 Lex Luger
I wanted the chase, but settled on the standard version since it's all I could find at retail. Then realized - this is a freakin' nice figure too!!! Apparently my brother got me the Chase and we're going to broker a trade....
Legends "Jake The Snake" Roberts
Just a great figure from a great time period in wrestling.... I think Mattel nailed this one!
Legends "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Another Home Run by Mattel! This is the BEST Piper figure we've seen.... and 1992-Piper was my favorite Piper....
Legends Chyna
I had held back on buying any Chyna figures, I dunno, they just didn't look right to me.... but this, to me - is the definitive Chyna figure. Also a bonus that I grabbed it for $5.99 on Clearance!
Elite Jerry "The King" Lawler
I'm a big fan of "The King" ... I've bought almost every Lawler figure out there.... but THIS is the Lawler we needed! Love it!
Mr. T - Ultimate Edition
Got super lucky & found this at a Target in Lancaster while driving ..... still searching for the Ultimate Hogan....
WWE Superstars - Walmart
I sort of got excited about these, but I've gotta admit.... I feel like we've been waiting a LOOONGGG time for Series 2 to hit shelves? Kinda hard to get excited about a figure line when we go months & months without being able to get them?
Hope you all enjoyed my fun pics, I enjoy taking them..... collecting action figures is frustrating at times, but they also do bring some joy into my life, which these days - I can't put a price on!
Now, let's all say a prayer for Ric Flair & hope that he makes it through his "Last Match" tonight in Nashville! Of course..... I'm planning to watch!
