I don't understand people's reasoning behind having the need to randomly steal toy figure news about upcoming pre orders and putting it on their Instagram stories or their Twitter.
If there is a small window to get a pre order, why announce it on their social media? Wouldn't it put you at a disadvantage to do that by making more people aware of it and hyping it up. The more people that know about it, the less chance you have of getting it right?

How exactly is it stealing information? If the info has already been made public isn’t it just sharing info? And I don’t really see a problem with someone making their followers aware that new figures are available and where to get em. I also would assume they secured theirs first before posting the links.

Take for instance when this Mattel Creations pre order LJN two pack is due to be released these "YouTubers" and Twitter followers who randomly make a noise about it on their Instagram stories for not much other reason than to get instant validation are going to make more people aware of it like they did with the No Holds Barred two pack and by hyping it too much, they it for us and they it for themselves, and we will be back on eBay again. I don't understand why they don't just keep quiet about it. Yes there are some that do it to help others, but are they really helping themselves by doing this. It's almost like lining up for pre order concert tickets outside the box office and then half an hour before they are making a noise about it within the box office proximity, along the lines of "hey the tickets are over there" that gets more people lining up for a ticket, giving themselves and more of the other people less of a chance. I think that this No Holds Barred pre order could have been alot more attainable if more people didn't advertise it on their social media when they really didn't have to. It just gets more people aware about it that didn't know about it before, and now if they want it and remember when it goes on pre order then they have the same chance of getting it as you, regardless if you want it ten times more. It all added up I think.

I mean, if they're doing a collectors channel IG/YouTube channel, then they're obviously doing it to get more content. It is what it is.

They do it to build a following. If they get enough followers, then they get free stuff. Or they just like helping out the community.

The hardcore collectors of WWE figures who really want to know about it will find a way. The people who need to know about it, will know about it. On this forum everyone was waiting for the SDCC exclusive announcement with speculation about what it is. My gripe is that it's going to be the same scenario with the LJN themed Hogan & Funk pre orders if too many YouTubers open their mouths about it and post unnecessarily about it. Of course Mattel could have made it easier by just announcing the pre order the day before it went on sale. That way the collectors will know about it first without giving time for much circulation and hype to build around the pre order that too many scalpers will be able to pick up on.

People get their info from many different sources. They’re not all on these boards. Some follow people on social media, join Facebook groups, watch YouTube videos, etc. But let’s say we’re able to keep it quiet and only this very specific niche group know about this line and where to buy them. How exactly did that work out for the Legends line on Matty Collector? The fact is that you need as many people as possible excited for this line and know when and where to get them for it to be successful.

This post is confusing 🤣 I don't mind ppl posting links and stuff, sometimes I'm at work and don't have all the time in the world to go looking for stuff that's gonna go up on preorder, and it helps when someone steals informing and post it on their page! Makes my job easier, I wouldn't have known amazon HBk went up if I didn't get stolen information!!

People who are buying limited products in bulk to sell at a markup are going to find out about the product whether or not Chungus' Rasslin' Fig Reviews posts it on his YouTube/Instagram/Twitter.
"Influencers" made the noise about the NHB set because they were given the NHB set to make noise about. If they weren't drawing the amount of attention that Mattel wanted on their product, they wouldn't have been given the product to hype. It's kinda weird that people still struggle with that concept. It's some of the cheapest marketing a company can buy when their business is predicated upon relatively low cost product.

I get your post and I feel your frustration with the No holds Barred set. However, I am one of those collectors that rely on some instagram influencers to give me the heads up when something becomes available to preorder. I don't have the time to constantly check on amazon, target, or now Mattel creations to see if something is available to order so it really helps me when I can get an alert on something right on my phone. The SDCC was advertised for 2 weeks at least on the exact time it would be available to pre order. Just so happens SDCC is a huge time for all us collectors and we all try to get the same thing at the same time. I didn't have any luck getting the NHB set, and my heart kind of sank a little bit when Steve said that he HOPES the hogan funk set will last a couple hours. Who knows if Mattel Creations will announce when it goes on sale or if it is like target and Amazon and I will then rely on those influencers to give me the heads up to order. Based on SDCC i kind of hope they don't announce it and just puts it up for sale at a random time. Maybe I will have a better chance then?

Ok well my stance on this has changed after reading the replies. The title was - I don't understand it, but I understand it a bit more now. Yes it is helpful to find out when and where the pre orders are, but honestly I hate it when it's just randomly posted on someones random Instagram story or on their Twitter, just reacting to it. I don't see why it's necessary. It isn't really helping is it.
For example after this No Holds Barred pre order was announced....people instantly reacted to it and made their own post of it on their Twitter or IG story with reactions like "it's great"...."it looks perfect." I don't understand why. It's not helpful at all in this context is it?? It's just getting unnecessary attention from people who wouldn't have been normally interested in it. That's my point.

Personally, I rely on sources like Instagram and this site for news of pre orders. I am happy that these people share the information. I’m assuming it’s not hurting them as they’re probably receiving the figures ahead of time and for free in the first place.

I see a lot of daft posts complaining about daft stuff but this is dafter than daft
I bet you stop liking bands after they get to a certain level and claim “their earlier work was better”
