Seeing that it supposedly did just under 8,000 pre orders which is less than the New Gen set - would this make it the rarest UE yet?

Define "rarest." Rare as in least number of units made? Rare as in most in demand by collectors?
One thing about this Cody is that they're going to make plenty of other figures comparable to it. Even the regular line Elites of Cody are going to really well produced. I think a lot of collectors will settle for any Cody because he's honestly a character that I think Mattel will work really hard to get perfect.
I might argue that Doink or Macho Man will be more "rare," especially Doink. There's a few more units being made of those if the Cody preorder truly is 8,000. But Doink is a figure that will never be revisted in the UE line and I think it won't be nearly as well made when he is released again as an Elite. I feel the same about Macho Man. I think quite a few orders came in aftet the early bird window so the amount of Macho Mans will be very comparable to the amount of Cody's if that's an accurate number. I think just over 8,000 Macho Man's will be made. IMO, I think that Macho Man will be more in demand by collectors than the Cody.
Also, do we have any sort of grasp on how many of the new NHB or UE Slaughter's were made? Those could be even less than Cody but I really have no clue. Considering one sold out in 3 minutes and the other in 8, I assume that there's less than 8,000 units made of each.

I change my vote for rarest, it's Black Card Slaughter, then Slaughter, then NHB then this Cody. Cody wont have the same demand as any of those so I would expect value to remain pretty common. |

Only way we will find out how rare it is, is when it ships and hits the secondary market. The beginning prices will either start going up after 3 weeks or down. Also, how many are for sale during that time? Right now there are 18 Moc SDCC Slaughters for sale on the bay. This is a figure that has been out and shipped almost a full year and sells for about a $100. That is 3x the retail price. If Cody is to be as rare as this he should be selling for at least $135 in July 2024. The real test is going to be the new gen ultimates. I am excited to see what happens with them. It really is a great and fun time to be a collector, even with all the headaches we deal with.

I agree with the general consensus here that Black Card Slaughter, Slaughter, and NHB are the rarest in terms of production numbers, with Cody and the NGA figures being close (Cody likely has fewer produced than Macho Man). However, Cody/Slaughter/Zeus/Diesel/Doink aren't going to get collectors as excited as Hogan and Macho Man, hence why those will likely go for significicantly more than the rarer Cody/Slaughter. Slaughter should be going for WELL over $100 if rarity were the true driver of price. I do think Cody will be more valued than Slaughter by collectors though. He's the only one of those listed here that still has some of his career in front of him and given that the figure has more long term potential to increase in value. |

There's also the fact that Jazwares just put out a comparable figure to the Ultimate Cody (and in a better color scheme IMO) and it'll be out for a full year before any Codys start showing up on people's doorsteps. I passed on Ultimate Cody for that reason alone. The Supreme looks fantastic and Jazwares made a good number of Cody figures already, so I'm kind of tapped out.
Honestly, I'd be kind of surprised if Ultimate Cody ever rises to a price that Rock or HBK hit. I think he'll probaby hit the $100 mark, but Doink (I don't see him getting another one), Diesel, Macho, black card Slaughter (same as Doink), WMIX Hogan (get the feeling its going to be like the Rock seeing as how hard both were to get), NHB set and the Collosium set will be in a higher demand. And before you know it, we'll see another Ultimate Cody.
