Been going through the old WWF PPV’s from 91 onwards. At the Rumble 93 just now. It’s crazy watching how much the WWF changed in that time period.
So on topic, when did you guys feel the Golden Era finished and the New Generation started. For me, looking at the Rumble 93, the Steiners make their PPV debut, Shawn was coming in to his own, other than Hogan’s brief appearances in the summer of 93, the HW belt would be traded between a new cast of characters with fresh match ups (Bret v Razor). Bam Bam also made his (re) debut at this one and Yoko won the rumble match.
Prime Time disappeared in the same month to be replaced with Monday Night Raw, which played its part in the whole landscape changing. So for me, January 93 was the true start of the NG. What do you guys think?

Summerslam 93 No Hogan, Warrior, Flair A new era had begun
Survivor Series 92 also had a bit of a new feel

New Generation started the night Bret Hart won the WWF Title from Ric Flair in Oct. 1992.
New Generation ended at Survivor Series 97 when Bret Hart lost the WWF Title and lef the World Wrestling Federation.

I would say the New Generation began around WrestleMania IX.
Golden Era mainstays like Ted DiBiase and Mr Perfect were on the card, and Tito Santana in a dark match, but there were also plenty of New Generation characters like Razor Ramon, Doink and the Headshrinkers.

Hmm, tough to say, but I am going for it starting in Summer of 93. Most of the old guard of the last five or so years was gone. Also I'm sure it was in 1994 they started ramping up the New Generation promos I remember one where they would have like an old airplane or car and then a modern one and talk about the new WWF Generation.

I think I'd have to go with when Bret beat Flair for his first WWF World title. To me, Bret is and always has been the face of the New Generation era so him winning that first belt was the launching point. The only awkward part of that timeline is the brief period between WrestleMania IX and King of the Ring 1993 where Hogan was again on top, but even then he felt like someone from a bygone era who didn't fit in anymore.

I think some people get confused when defining these specific eras. The start would be when you'd see the company moving towards what the era was at its peak.
Like how the Attitude Era was building from the Bret/Austin feud in late 96/97. It wasn't in full swing until 98 but 96/97 is when it started.

I usually go with 1993. Savage, Flair, Hogan, Piper, et all, were pretty much done/gone/finishing up. And we saw the rise of Bret, Shawn, Taker, Razor, Doink, Luger, Yokozuna, etc.

Personally see the New Generation starting at King Of The Ring 93 when Hogan left and ending at Survivor Series 97 when Bret left.

While Summerslam 1991 IMO was the end of the Hulkamania Era with the Ultimate Warrior getting fired and Hulk Hogan leaving to make movies, the New Generation Era didnt kick in until Bret Hart beat Ric Flair for the WWF Championship. In between was a transitional period.

The first RAW.
Too many Golden Era guys were still involved in 1992. Hogan, Flair, Savage, Warrior etc...It wasnt until the transition to RAW where we got a new format that displayed new champions in Bret & HBK and the little usage & even acknowledgement of Hogan, Flair, Warrior etc (Macho was still on commentary) that it felt like something "new" was upon us.

I might have to go with the Pillman gun segment or maybe when they debuted the Raw is War moniker with the new set at the beginning of 1997. |

Really sunk in at RR94....Diesels big push at that event etc.
Ends for me with Brets heel turn at WM13.1997 was "wakey wakey Vince" year...very transitional like 1992 but in much different ways.

Yeah I totally get the “new company” feel. I was still watching when Raw began but took a while to get used to it. So glad I persevered though.
