Hi guys,
What happened to the MattelCreation site? They changed the prices (converted into local currency at checkout) in a really bad way .. How is it possible to go from 33 $ to 50 euros for a single figure? None of the worst banks apply such a currency exchange.
I wrote them, but I didnt receive any answer yet.

They've started including customs charges into the prices, apparently. But seemingly, over-calculating them.

Example below based on UK charges:
If you ordered before they made this change and then got hit with customs charges, the total (figures + shipping + customs) comes to around £74.
If you ordered from the UK today, the total is £85.
They've clearly tried to slide in a little extra margin for themselves here, there's no other real justification for the difference.

"little extra margin" Before this change, nobody (european) paid customs because they exported to Belgium and in the finale prize they already included VAT. Now, they overcharged by 40%! Look the price of New Generation Ring. From 250$ to 380 Euros, totally crazy!! I already sent 2 mails to them, what a bad move by mattel! I hope it's a mistake otherwise Im out from the next releases (colosseum collection and next cf project)

Yeah, I saw this last night and wondered what was going on. I’ve just received my WWE Mattel Creations Wave 2 sets. These cost me £55 per set, so £110 in total. That’s including the currency conversion fee from my bank. They’ve arrived today with no import taxes payable, as these normally would.
They’re now £76 per set. That’s not very good news going forward with this line and I was looking forward to the previously announced next few series. The RSC waves are gonna be even more expensive, too. All of a sudden the shine has been taken off these from that first wave at £55 shipped to the U.K.

I'm pretty much priced out of their retro line now. Figures are cool, but no way I'm paying an extra £30 over what I paid for series one.

Looks like Mattel have really ed us overseas customers over with this one. As if we weren't paying way over the odds compared to the US already. I was looking forward to the upcoming Coliseum Collection but it will now be ridiculously expensive. More and more I'm having to justify this hobby to myself and it's becoming hard to do.

It's possible that they've done this because a lot of people have had problems with international delivery on the arena. Sure, but the issue is they're overcharging by quite a significant amount. For the retros, as an example, the customs fee would be around £12 but they're charging almost double that.

Might it even be cheaper to pay the US price and get a friend in the US to receive and send them over to Europe given the size of the mark-up?

If they stick with this I’m glad I’ve kept my retro sets MOC, I’ll be selling and getting out of retro collecting. Can’t justify that sort of cash for a product that already needs improving (painted singlets, too many same body types etc).

I've just been on there to check: previously it was $55, plus $15 shipping... which worked out around £60. Now when you go to pay, the $55 suddenly changes to £76 (approx $86!), plus the shipping, for a total of £85 (approx $96 USD).
Absolute madness - this will kill the Retro line, outside of the US orders... nevermind any future crowd-funding items. I dread to think what they'd have charged for the arena with their "new calculations"... 😳

For the retros, as an example, the customs fee would be around £12 but they're charging almost double that. There wouldn't have been a customs charge for the UK as the price was below the threshold of £125.
