That report is the funniest thing I’ve read today. Hilarious stuff. I thought the funniest part of this entire saga was the idea of Matt Jackson and CM Punk in an actual physical confrontation, because my god, I can't think of a lower quality fist fight lol. Like Serpentico vs. Leon Ruff would be a more violent shoot fight... Then I read the line about being afraid Hangman was gonna shoot on him in the match. The headline writes itself. "Previous UFC Fighter fears for personal safety in scripted engagement against former school teacher" The Hangman thing really cracked me up too. I’m not going to act like Hangman can’t/couldn’t kick some ass but you’d think a guy that tough in the octagon wouldn’t worry much about being in the ring with a guy that hasn’t. I can see how the fear of that happening could affect someone as far as it could ruin the match, someone could legit get hurt, etc but it’s still hilarious. I’d pay 50 bucks for a ppv to watch Punk and either Buck go 1 on 1 in a shoot fight

Well, dust has settled, we'll get some more small details leaking over the next few weeks I'm sure, but we can finally move on.
Punk isn't officially bought out but we all know he's never coming back at this point. Elite are back and plans are in place.
TK has a lot of damage control to do with the Elite, Hangman, Colt, and honestly Dark Order a little bit too. But mostly Elite & Hangman, because he absolutely cannot afford to let those 4 leave the company. He's finally shown a spine showing Punk the door, now mend your fences.
But for the rest of us, thankfully we can just forget about this and move on with AEW.
I'm sure BTE can't/won't address it, but good god am I hyped for the next BTE, whether in launches Monday or the Monday after Full Gear.

I’ll still miss Punk, but it’s good for all of this to move on.

As much as I'm as anti-punk as they come now after this costing me the elite in Canada, I do feel really bad for all the guys who love Punk and got robbed of what should have been one of the best comeback stories around. Getting just one year is not what was supposed to happen there.

Biggest disappointment here personally, is were never see AJ in a AEW ring. Didn't look like it was gonna happen anyways but this put the nail in the coffin.

Not sure how anyone can say Punk wasn't the best thing AEW has put out in it's three years, behind only MJF. All his matches were good to great, he had the best stories throughout his run, and there's no way anyone else has produced the ratings or merchandise money he was responsible for. I would trade the Bucks, Omega, and Page for Punk in a heartbeat, and it shows you just how serious AEW is a company that they would buy out Punk and bring back those guys who add nothing positive to the show.

This is so subjective, it's not even funny. Did Punk have some interesting stories? Sure. But you know what I found more interesting? The Kingston/Jericho storyline. The Kenny/Hangman storyline. The Cody/Malakai storyline. The MJF/Cody storyline. Cody's TNT Title open challenge. So on and so forth. Let's not even get to the matches themselves, of which only two of Punk's were good to great, that being Kingston and MJF. To me, AEW was at its best when it was just doing its own thing, and not trying to create buzz by bringing in guys like Punk, who ended up not doing much for the product, financially or ratings wise. Sure, there was a minor uptick, but once the novelty wore off, what did he bring to the table for the overall product? Yeah, makes sense though. Let's pick the guy that embarasses you during a media scrum, starts a fight with your EVPs, and does nothing but bring negativity and cancer to your locker room from NUMEROUS reports, including locker room leader, Chris Jericho... ...over the guys who helped you start the company. Sit down with your bias in the corner and cope.

I’d rather watch Punk continue his run than watch the Bucks or Omega any day of the week, as a fan. Easily.
Even so, I know that keeping the elite and getting rid of Punk is the wise move at this point. It may lessen my interest in the product but I still love the company and want to see it thrive. Sadly Punk only brings more chaos.
As mentioned, time to move on.

I was pretty excited to see that Elite promo actually. I thought it was a good episode all around, but that scene was like an ‘Oh $#!t’ moment in light of the mystery surrounding the investigation and all of the he said, she said crap. This embarrassment has cast a dark cloud over AEW for too long, and I really just don’t want to think about it anymore. In the most basic sense this is kind of like the screwjob: a bunch of overpaid prima donnas being unprofessional. AEW and it’s wrestlers deserve better.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not personally a big Elite guy, they seem like a bunch of jerks as well, but I’ve NEVER been so happy to see them back on TV. It’ll wear off quickly, but I’m pretty psyched since this should be emblematic of the end of BM Phil forever. I’m actually glad he came back only to tarnish his legacy (again) in the most embarrassing, spectacular ‘down in flames’ way imaginable. The fall of BM Phil from UFC to AEW is one of my absolute favorite stories in wrestling history, and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
I had to respond one last time because it’s hard to keep up with all of the ‘new details’ coming out after weeks of radio silence and speculation. If I hear no more ‘new details’ about this I’ll be happy. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Superman had to fly in and weld the door back on with his heat vision.

Ngl I enjoyed Punk in WWE(definitely not his biggest fan but still a fan)and was more interested in guys like Black and Andrade coming to AEW but I was still excited about Punk too. That all changed when he tried blowing up something I've been a huge fan of since its first day. Ill take Omega or Hangman any day of the week over him and its not close. Besides him and MJF,I didn't see anything special out of his run there and tbh I'm glad he's gone. Now they can get back to guys that actually wants to be there.

I have always felt that CM Punk is one of those "I'm a nice guy and easy to get along with kind of guys"..... As long as everything is going my way and people feel the same way I do.
I was excited when he showed up at AEW, but this is a clear pattern of behaviour. I couldn't imagine the WWE would be interested in him unless it was just to sign him to a legends deal to make merch.

I hope he does decide to leave because that place has become nothing but a shiithole since Cody left and is being ran into the ground by the cosplay kids and then the supposed owner who is just one of the biggest marks ever that hangs on every word they say while they play him for his money to where it just benefits them and friends. punk was one of the only few people that seen through all the fake bullshiit they would try to play and called them all out on it instead of siding with them like most of the locker room does he called them out and they didn't like it so they went and cried about it and started the fight. Regardless of everything punk was one of aew only real talents and draws that they had other than black mjf Darby Sammy hobbs starks Britt hayter abandon statlander thunder rosa bunny blade butcher pillman jr danhausen archer Andrade and all the rest of the ex wwe/nxt members the place has no real talent. Imagine if they would have tried to pull that with someone like savage Harley or brusier back in the day they would have beat the hell out of all 3 well 4 of them if you include the other idiot lameman page unconscious and not thought twice about it Kinda feel like it undercuts your point to talk about how Punk was one of the only real talents that draw but then list like twenty other people you think do the same.

But, for what it's worth, Cody put out a tweet saying that he didn't leave because of the Elite or Cody. Mentioned a "personal issue" and wanting to win the main title, which the genius booked himself out of.
