Coliseum Collection Wave 2 - Rick Rude and Jake The Snake!!!

To be honest I have no interest for any of these but for the people who do, enjoy.

This is a must get for me. Hoping to see the Hart Foundation and The Genius/Mr Perfect down the line!

Will buy two of each. This is a fantastic set!

Dissapointed. Talk about 'playing it safe.'

Yes they look great put next to eachother in their colour scheme. Sure they both are similar to their Hasbro attires but when we got the Hasbro Rude and Jake the Snake most of us were just glad to get them in figure form at all and understood that they probably had to use those attires because it was basic and they had budget factors. But most of us imagined then "ah would be great to get Rude and Jake the Snake from this specific event."

Take a closer look at the Rude figure. He is pale skin colour and you can hardly see his abs, they don't stand out at all. And your going to be asked to pay premium prices for this?

Also, look at the Coliseum Collection poll - there are about ten other choices ahead of Rick Rude, and Jake the Snake Roberts got just one vote!

I think Rick Rude and I think Hasbro toy, not LJN.

I thought they were doing this Coliseum Collection because they already had some unsigned talents in their back pocket to reveal. If you didn't have the new names that we wanted, then why do it?

I would have got an Ultimate Rude. I would have got an Ultimate Jake. But not in these attires. I paid through the nose to get that Jake legends chase. And to re release him in Ultimate form not even two years later is a slap in the face.

I'm more excited for this one than the first. Any time we get a new Rick Rude or a new(ish) Jake Roberts is a win in my book.

I'm a little puzzled here. Are they sticking purely to the attires worn by the LJN figures originally? Because they didn't give Funk his green chaps like the LJN had, to differentiate it more from the Legends figure.

And they stick so rigidly to Jake that it barely feels different from the Legends chase?

I'm not sure how the poll on here is relevant - it was created at the end of September and these were in the works for a long time (lineups are scheduled usually at min 12-18 months out).  In addition, only 130 users voted in that poll.  I'm sure the results might help Mattel in making future decisions, but they definitely should not make all of their business decisions based off of a poll by just a 130 people.  Did you expect Mattel to say "Oh, we spent all this money creating a Jake figure but only 1 out of 130 people voted for him so let's scrap the figure and eat the costs?"

Another thing is we don't know when Rick or Jake's deals are going to be up - maybe they are prioritizing them like people complain about all the time.  In addition, I've never seen Jake warm in retail (Rude has a little bit) so I'm sure they are using data that we are not privy to when making these decisions (one figure that sells better/one figure that might not sell as well).

The Rude hasbro was only purple and black, which this is not - it resembles the LJN more with Mattel's own take on it.

You can be disappointed that there aren't new names, but just because you aren't getting what you want, Mattel shouldn't scrap the whole line.  That isn't any way to run a business ("Well, we don't have any new names signed from the LJN/golden era so we shouldn't try a new line to bring in money), especially since there are people that are looking forward to both Jake and Rude.

Personally, I'm the most excited for this line and the superstars line.  Do I hope we get new people signed (Captain Lou) and former people back in the (OMG) - of course, but even if we don't, I'll be happy with them releasing the usual suspects.  I just hope they eventually release more than 2 a year and include people from that time frame that didn't have a LJN, which doesn't sound like the plan right now.
