This essentially boils down to NPC's yelling at him to 'Hit women in the name of equality, bigot'

Going after Scotty about this is kinda nuts. I'm not surprised, but somehow still dissapointed. I read those quotes, they weren't anything super controversial. It's not like he said "If you like intergender wrestling you're evil". I dunno if everyone forgot but TK basically said the exact same thing when AEW started when asked if they'd ever do intergender matches. I forget who but there was at least one high profile indie woman who said basically a similar thing and got crapped all over for it too. Absolutely animal crackers.
Personally I only really enjoy it on the independent scene. That's more because it can be such good training experience for the women to wrestle with the boys where things just move faster. I'm never thinking about giant story arcs with indie wrestling, they're all just fun standalone matches to me.
The only intergender match I've ever really enjoyed in a "bigger" promotion was Tessa vs. Sami in impact. That one made me feel very uncomfortable. In a good way. Like they really played into the intergender dynamic and Sami was a crazy big heel and it was supposed to make you also feel a bit uneasy watching it. If there are any horror fans it was like the "funny games" of intergender wrestling.

Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. A lot of women feel empowered getting to face the men but it also can give off the impression to hillbilly yokels with no common sense that beating up women is okay. But that can be said for any TV show or movie that shows something like that. WWE, AEW, etc. they’re all shows, it’s not real. But again, people should be bashing him for his own views that are somewhat understandable.
The only time I ever enjoyed intergender wrestling was Christian and Jericho vs Lita and Trish

So Scotty 2 Hotty doesn't feel safe wrestling women or seeing women wrestle men.... so we must hate him now?? The new age of "woke" wrestling fans are just ridiculous.
It's okay for a wrestler or person to have an opinion on how they feel without being destroyed on social media in by the bully's of the internet.

Intergender wrestling only works if 1. the female in question can be shown to have some ability to compete with men (actual or not), 2. if the story allows it.
Back in the early 2000s when Chyna was fighting men, no offense to her, but she was an amazon of a woman. It was very believable that she could fight men. Chris Jericho was on a podcast recently talking about how it was hard to wrestle Chyna because in someways she couldn't hang with the men. But the story, along with Eddie Guerrero and Y2J' professionalism, helped to sell it.
Jackie vs Chavo for the Cruiserweight title is another example. Jackie was scrappy and it was very possible she could kick your ass, male or female. Chavo was running his mouth. Jackie stepped up to the plate. Daffney, crazy enough to fight men.
But it only goes so far: It would be very hard to sell a Riho vs Stone Cold match.

I have no interest in seeing intergender wrestling, so I'm with Scotty on this one.

I see nothing wrong with what he said. People just want to whine because they have a keyboard.

I don't get the appeal. I'm going to have to fast forward through the intergender NJPW x Stardom matches even though I think they're "WWE style" rules.

Damn, why can't Braun Strowman delete his twitter instead?

kinda surprising he has this take when he just appeared in GCW and put the company over a few months ago, and GCW has intergender matches every single card

Didn't read the article, but I'm surprised we haven't gotten intergender matches in WWE. Especially, now with people wanting gender equality and whatnot. Every time Rhea Ripley is in the ring it's weird because she attacks the rest of the guys, but when then the ring is swarmed she just sits there (until recently of course).

In this same vein, I could see WWE one day giving Ronda Rousey a shot at the WWE Championship. As a stunt, A possibly desperate stunt... As a for reals trained and champion MMA fighter, it would not be hard to make it believable she could fight and hang with the men. For reals right now, she could easily beat up 3/4ths of the men on the planet.

I also think she could beat up half of the roster lol.

kinda surprising he has this take when he just appeared in GCW and put the company over a few months ago, and GCW has intergender matches every single card He doesn’t actually put down anyone that participates in intergender wrestling or intergender wrestling as a whole, he just says he’s personally not comfortable doing it anymore.

You could sell me on that match in seconds lol. SCSA being anti Asian doesn't feel like a reacg. wait what? lol I mean, I'm sure he isn't in real life. But the stone cold character (and I loved scsa) always seemed so trailer park-y to me. It wouldn't take much to convince me that character is racist and holds all Asians responsible for pearl harbor. Or something, I don't know. I'm just saying I'd be able to buy into that scenario as easy (probably easier) as I would "rhea is big and therefore tough as the guys" or "ronda was in the ufc, she can obviously beat brock"
