Totally sucks, he was my favorite Ranger growing up. I'm glad I was able to meet him at a signing back in March, was such a nice guy.

This is devastating. He was a huge part of my childhood. Even over the last few years, he responded to a few of my questions on IG live streams he would do. Word from everyone is he was just a legit wonderful guy. This is just really not what you want. It goes to show that you just never know what people are going through. I really wish this wasn’t real.

Really sad, was always my favourite character from Power Rangers.
I'm in quite a bit of shock with both the passing of Conroy & now Frank.

Was devastated to hear this. Only ever knew him as Green and White from MMPR, but I know many loved him for his run throughout the series. Never heard anyone bash him and only ever heard people speak highly of him. RIP, bro.

When I heard about this I was extremely devastated. Jason and Christopher Khayman Lee were my favorite rangers of all time. I grew up watching MMPR and JDF was one of my heroes. He mastered martial arts, he's the most recognizable ranger and he's had the most reincarnation of rangers. I was checking up on him a couple of weeks back on social media and always wondered how he was always in good spirits. I worry about people who look happy all the time. I shed a tear today, not only because JDF was an essential part of my childhood. He stood for hope for all the kids around the world. I haven't been this sad since the passing of Chris Cornell, another tragic loss. The world needs heroes, especially people who are creative and pave the way for others. I hope that wherever he is, he's in a good place.

Tbh I'm not a Power Ranger fan but I watch A LOT of videos of toy hunts,collections etc and I don't think I've ever heard one person say a bad thing about him. He seemed like a great guy to all his fans,RIP.

Still kind of rocked by this whole thing. I think a lot of people had a lightbulb go off on mental health when we lost Robin Williams. I never had the pleasure of meeting Williams, but I think we all had the impression he was so full of life and he gave so much of himself, so much joy, to people that it was truly shocking when we found out how hurt he was inside. Even though a lot, a lot, of comedians draw from a place of sadness and darkness and that's why they need to make people laugh. I've seen JDF a half dozen times over at least a ten year period. He brought nothing but energy to fans. He brought it every time I saw him. Making them laugh, taking goofy pictures, taking extra time to listen, and chat, and respect the people who came to meet him. There are a number of times at Cons where I go out of my way to meet people, or even just say hi to someone, because you never know if you'll see them again. JDF was not one of those people. Every time I saw him I gave him a high five and it was very much a "see you at the next one" kind of deal. Never, in a million years, would I think this would happen. So I'm incredibly sad over this situation. He was the ambassador for Power Rangers. He was my absolute favorite Power Ranger. All of this was probably made worse because during Covid I went back and watched all of Season 1 and 2 and capped it off with the movie. So that nostalgia was so fresh in my mind for why I loved him in particular as a kid. We've seen a lot of actors, especially from the 80s and 90s, try and distance themselves from something that was beloved because they felt it was goofy as they aged. JDF never once acted that way. He embraced what we loved, and wanted to be more of it. I think we championed him for it. I think he gave so many people amazing moments of joy and hope and magic, and seeing him meet that nostalgia halfway with his real life energy was always a pleasure I'm blessed to have seen, and experienced. Terrible news. The older I get, the more difficult it becomes to lose people I loved on screen as a kid. It feels like a piece of your own history dies with them, and I wish the love people had for him was enough to keep him with us.  |

That seems to be the one constant that I've heard about him from fans, is it was always positive when they got to meet him. The fans loved him and he loved them right back, which is cool to hear. Too often you might hear about celebs, whether it's actors or athletes, that can't be bothered to deal with their fans, but JDF truly seemed to care about them. And it's nice to see he never grew to resent the association with Power Rangers. He seemed proud to be linked to it. |
