Andre The Fetus... Yikes... He seriously looks like a baby with jaundice. It's really not OK. Stuff like this is why I've basically stopped pre-ordering Super7 stuff- the quality control is wildly inconsistent, and you can't trust prototype photos- just not excusable for the exorbitant prices they're charging. Too many issues with paint and loose joints on $50+ figures. I love Thundercats, but I'll wait until I can check out the paint jobs in-person at a convention or store, so I can at least check out the paint jobs. I always want a few Silverhawks figures- same thing. Unfortunately, with those licenses, there aren't other options- the fact that we can get MUCH better Andres from Mattel for much less money really hammers home how bad the Super7 ones are. I like the super 7 reaction figures but with a much smaller price point snd they style of the figures it’s a much smaller investment both in risk and financial The ultimates as you say seem to be hit and miss - their cartoon characters are generally good. Their Alice in wonderland and Robin hood Disney are great. I wonder if more time and qc is spent on that line due to the Disney trademark and other lines suffer? I can’t imagine Disney would put up with rubbish put out under their ip and trademarks/likenesses?

All this talk of influencers and fig reviewers, does any actual adult (16 and over) actually buy items based on someone else’s opinions? Im not sure in my 30+ years of collecting ive ever been swayed by someone elses pics or reviews from purchasing an item of any kind, especially action figures and collectibles If you’re new to a line it can sometimes be helpful if someone does a review and compares to another version of the figure, or maybe even if your not new to a line you may have missed a figure. E.g, Dan does ‘comparison time’ when he will compare a new figure he’s reviews to other iterations. That can help you get a sense of scale, or maybe see an iteration you prefer. However if I don’t like a figure but a review says it’s good I don’t change my opinion. It’s wrong to suggest someone over a certain age wouldn’t pay interest to a review - otherwise companies in all different industries wouldn’t spend money producing snd sending out review units - films, music, computer games etc all have reviews because people use them to help form an opinion. People use reviews of insurance and financial products which are very much aimed at a young adult + market Classic rock magazine has tons of reviews and is firmly aimed at the older generation of 30+ Retro gamer has reviews and as the name suggests is aimed at an approaching middle age and older generation Even Amazon or Google reviews or eBay feedback is a form of review I like reviews on something I’ve not seen a good shot of. Let’s face it even ringside post pre orders without showing a picture, independent companies putting up ore orders with concept art and so on. I won’t buy off someone’s else’s opinion, but then showing something off can help me decide. Now when the review is audio only and they take liberties it’s frustrating but I’ve not ordered off an audio review yet.

The Super7 TMNT figures are pretty awesome, especially the bigger characters like Bebop, Rockteady and Muckman etc. Their standard human figures are very hit and miss. As much as I like Thundercats I am not keen on Super7's Thundercats or the overall design and quality of the figures. Although the Ultimates coloured like the LJN figures are pretty cool, but are quite lacking in accessories for the price.

The only Super7 TMNT Ultimate that I have is Baxter Stockman, and he IS pretty cool. With TMNT, I'll probably pick up some random favorites, especially when I find them below retail, but I have all of the vintage ones, and the Super7 ones are so huge and pricey. They do seem to be Super7's best-done Ultimates line, I will say. What I really want is for Playmates to just do an all-encompassing Ninja Turtles line that's in-scale with the old ones, but highly articulated. I love Thundercats (The Mad Bubbler is an obscure Thudnercats villain), and I've overall been happy with the look of their line, but it's hard to be excited about it when they cost so much, frequently get delayed, and I end up with loos-hipped Grune and paint-smudged Mumm-Ra and Ma-Mutt. The LJN tribute ones ARE pretty fun- they're tempting me with the Lion-O and Mumm-Ra in particular (still have my childhood ones). So far, I haven't picked up any of their Ultimates based on real people- none of them have jumped out at me (I don't watch NJPW), and the Andres just looked inferior to Mattel ones. It seems like they might put more effort in to the music-based ones?

The ReAction Figures are fun, but even those have gotten a bit pricey for what they are ($20.00 USD now), but there's definitely much less risk of loose joints and other issues, and with that style, you don't expect the likenesses to be spot-on. I have the retro Andre in the fringed vest, and he's a cool little figure, and I have a bunch of Thundercats ones, some GI Joes, etc.. The Disney and Ninja Turtles ones do seem to be some of their best Ultimates- I got Pinocchio, and he is very well done, and I plan on getting some others. Like you said, maybe Disney has more direct involvement, and won't let Super7 get sloppy or lazy.

Saying that, I've spent a fair amount of bread on them and there's always a million more to buy. I've got a bunch of the music and Horror stuff they've done, their Misfits line is fun.

It seems like they might put more effort in to the music-based ones? The Ultimates Baxter looks cool. The actual Turtles are okay...but the range of articulation is a bit limited and the design of the hip pegs is not very sturdy. Nowhere near as sturdy and chunk as the design of the NECA hip pegs. Totally agree about making TMNT figures in the same scale as the originals but with more articulation, like the Masters of the Universe Origins figures. Playmates seem to be doing that as the Playmates Last Ronin figure was pretty much in scale with the vintage figures. Thundercats was one of my favourites but sadly I don't have my Thundercats collection anymore. USed to have nearly all of them with the exception of Young Tygra, Driller and Stinger. I like the Ultimates LJN Mumm-Ra and Lion-O as the LJN Mumm-Ra was my first Thundercats figure. Some of them are nice enough looking figures but on some their articulation is limited and really badly desinged/engineered. Aside from the Ultimates TMNT and some others Super7 should stick to the ReAction 3.75" figures.

On a recent figure hunt, I came across NECA's TMNT four pack of the turtles. Easily, NECA's take had more accessories and swapping parts than you could shake a kendo stick at; but the $259.99 (in Canadian Dollars, mind you) price point made me do a double take.
Granted, while Super7's TMNT figures are priced lower, they don't have the retro TV show charm that NECA has been able to provide.
Going back to Andre, one of the best head sculpts of the Giant has to be NECA's 2003 Andre The Giant Bobblehead. 20 years later, NECA's work still holds up remarkably well.

I would list it as better than many but still not great: I have a bust from an artist (you can see it closer on the third photo). He did a very good job but even he didn’t nail it exactly. http://instagram.com/p/CKkAFxvMddX

Thank you! I’ve added some pieces since then and there are a number of things not even on display. The Hasbro Andre is what really got me into collecting as a kid (spoiler: I didn’t own one until I was nearing 30 lol). He is also the one megastar of the 80’s and 90’s that I never got to see live.
I take that back; I don’t think I ever saw Warrior but he was never a big deal to me.

Fantastic collection. Like many collectors here, I remain in awe over the eight wonder of the world. Andre is a link to my childhood as a Wrestling fan. Ever since I first laid eyes on the giant playing a secondhand copy of WWF Wrestlemania and Wrestlemania Challenge on the NES. Even the earliest Andre figures from Japan posed a challenge recreating the legend's likeness: An original Keshi of Andre with longer hair. Most figures pay tribute to Andre's afro hairstyle of the late 70's - early 80's. My absolute favourite Japanese Andre facial sculpt has to be the first wave of POPY Keshi figures (arguably the first wave of Wrestling keshi in general) which were released in 1981-82. The above sculpt, in my opinion, is superior to Andre's full size POPY action figure.

Kyle was still dancing around the elephant in the room. Rather than calling it like it is: a Bad looking Andre Yeah, exactly. He seemed incapable of just matter of factly calling it like it is. Isnt he one of those reviewers who gets free samples from Super7? Those reviewers tend not to be too harsh on Super 7 figures anyway. But its gotta be especially tough for them when the product is very obviously not good. I purchased this with my hard earned money. If I do get a free figure deal is it does not change anything in my reviews

Not to hurt peoples feelings, or for views…but because it was so heavily and blatantly flawed. It makes me wonder how anyone could not feel that way (especially if you purchased it with your own money).
