The problem with a match like this is the ending can be seen 4 years ago.
There is only one way it an end, with a strong Roman victory.
It does your current champion and posterboy no good if he gets beat by an old legend "ON THE BIGGEST STAGE!!!"
It would become nothing but a glorified squash match.
If Roman wasn't the champion, and this was going to be a special attraction match. (Think Rocky Balboa.) It could work and make it more interesting.
I also feel this shows the Actual/Real state of Roman Reigns.
In the fact that he is still so NOT over, that they are trying to drag Austin back for that last chance at legitimacy. At showing everyone he is supposed to be "the one".

I don't need to see Austin back in the ring tbh,last year was a good enough send off. Let the current guys get the spotlight,he can come back over in Saudi if he wants too.

Steve Austin vs. Kevin Owens was so perfect that Steve can't come back, it would just be ridiculous for him to come back.
Kevin Owens was a huge Austin fan growing up so it was just the right ending. And now we have Kevin Owens as this eras Austin in certain ways. So it all worked out.

Could Austin even safely take a spear? Multiple spears? That doesn't seem like a good idea for 58-year-old guy who had to retire due to a serious neck issue.

You could easily have one thread discussing both options because the overall idea is what was pitched to Austin. You’re doing the same thing with two WM threads. You can ask people for the best and worst WrestleManias in the same thread. There is no reason to flood the page with all of your redundant threads. |

There’s been nearly 40 WM’s so why not talk about the best & worst in different threads? Same goes for SummerSlams Survivor Series Rumbles etc. For PPVs like MITB Backlash etc you can ask people the best & worst in the same thread since there’s been lesser events but for the bigger events with longer history’s why not separate em? That’s a lot of discussion right there. Nobody else had a problem with it but it’s all good. |

I think it would have been interesting to do something else with Austin but Austin Vs Roman does not seem like a great move. Roman's style just wouldn't be complementary to the style Austin wants/needs to work. I don't know if these two could've had a satisfying Mania main event. Would've been tough.
But I do think something like Owens, Zayn and Austin Vs The Uso's and Solo could have been a fantastic use of Austin.
I just assume Austin didn't want to wrestle again this year if they haven't figured him in yet.
