Same thing happened to Sami. Turns on the Bloodline. Big championship match in Montreal. It had all the makings of a true underdog story. And we were trolled. Sami winning the Tag belts at ‘mania was just bitter sweet. It was not a resolution, it was a demotion. Sami and KO. Lifelong friends has been played out. KO is this generations Big Show with the amount of Heel/Face turns. I have no emotional connection to them being a tag team and I’m simply waiting for the turn. If Cody does get a chance to win the title it won’t have the same impact than it would have at ‘mania. The momentum has stalled. Trash take. The story was always Sami and Jey. Kevin and Jimmy were essential players in that story. They all did a fantastic job. They all got their well deserved moment. The story was never Sami beating Roman. Was booked perfectly.

Gunther vs Drew vs Sheamus was an epic match! Great stuff from start to finish & I really thought Drew or Sheamus was winning it.

Question:
Ignoring the fact that no one wants to watch a match go that long, especially at the end of a long weekend, but do you think Roman retaining due to the match going to a “Broadway” would have been better received than the ending we got?
-Cody would have taken Roman to the limit, which no one has been able to do. Rocky 1 style. Spoiler for Phil Brooks. -Cody would have the argument that Roman didn’t beat him and that he is due a rematch. -Would add to future doubt for Heyman leading to Solo eventually turning on Roman with Heyman siding with him.

No way that would work at Wrestlemania. You'd have to have balls of steel to end the main event at your biggest PPV in front of 85,000, which people fly in from overseas to attend, in a draw. On a B PPV like Money In The Bank, sure. Maybe even a Summerslam, but it'd still be criticised harshly. The only way you could get away with a finish like that is if its not the biggest match on the card, like at the Royal Rumble.

I must have been the only guy happy to see Shane lol, he was a highlight for me even tho he got injured ASAP but also props to Miz, Snoop Dogg & Pat Mcafee as those guys was also a highlight for me. Good filler.
It also sucked that Bobby Lashley never wrestled but at least he got some air time.

KOMania ... WrestleZaynia ... Why not KOZaynia ... or is that where they're going with the Undisputed WWE Raw / Smackdown Unified World Tag Team Champions??

The more I've thought about it the more the Cody loss makes sense.
I don't think they would've made a mistake having Cody win, but I think Cody winning is best for not only his longevity as a main eventer in WWE but also for The Bloodline's story. Having The Usos lose but Roman win allows for the story of Reigns losing trust in the Usos to continue while he continues to thrive as champion and instead of having Cody be the one to put the nail in the coffin of the Bloodline, it comes down to the Bloodline itself in a full circle kind of way. I'm sure a lot of this has been said by other people before but I just feel like the initial reaction of Cody and the story are doomed was a bit of an overreaction.
I've also seen the Cody story get compared to Kofimania but I feel like that's completely incorrect. As much as I love Kofi, he was not presented as a main event guy for a majority of his career, and the Kofimania story was a legitimate flash in the pan type of thing. His main event status was likely never going to be long term. That Mania match was genuinely now or never in getting that sort of reaction. Cody is not Kofi. This isn't a dismissal of Kofi's popularity because I am a huge fan of his and the New Day is one of the most successful acts in the company's history, but Cody has that main event guy level of popularity and crowd reaction that is a lot more sustainable than 1/3 of the New Day being a World Champion. Cody can take a loss and bounce back from it and he can still #FinishTheStory as long as his booking is quality and consistent.

I see a lot of discourse about how night 2 sucked when it really didn’t. Yes the thing with Shane and Miz sucked, but the rest of the card ranged from really good to solid. Just because who you wanted to win matches didn’t win, doesn’t mean those matches automatically sucked.
I said sucked, a lot, I know.

I bet half the people that "didn't enjoy" Reigns/Cody would be throwing stars about like Dave Meltzer in the Tokyo Dome if Cody hit that third Cross Rhodes and got the win. The previous 30+ minutes were fantastic.

Agreed that both nights were a lot of fun. I thoroughly enjoyed Cody/Roman regardless of outcome, Drew/Sheamus/Gunther was a slugfest, Charlotte/Rhea was phenomenal which is saying something for sure because I am not even close to being a Charlotte fan, KO & Sami/Usos was a beautiful near year long end to a story, the Men's tag was 100x better than it had any right to be, Seth/Paul was fun, the Mysterios match was fun - Dom is playing a fantastic heel.
Only a couple of downers for me but didn't ruin either night - Cena is getting too old to keep coming back for one off matches, both the match with Roman and with Theory were dud's. Edge/Balor disappointed a bit, admittedly was pulling for a Balor win, Edge winning and disappearing until SSlam or so doesn't really do much for anyone involved. Both Women's tag matches were a bit of a drag, Ronda is only getting worse in the ring and it's probably time to retire (for the 9th time) the old timers for good.
I honestly had bigger issue with the way Cody was booked on the Raw after. First making him look stupid on the mic (why would you want anything but a title rematch? Somehow end up immediately settling for a tag match without a partner) and then bury him by having Bork destroy him to end the weekend. But I guess they had to find a way to get him out of the picture for the time being.

Reigns vs Rhodes was 10/10 for me since I actually loved the ending , I still wanted Cody to win but I was fine with Reigns retaining.
Owens/Zayn was also 10/10 for me & I loved the ending but if the USO’s had won then I would have thought ‘meh’... I’m a big fan of the USOs but it really was time for Owens/Zayn to win.

Honestly, most of the matches from Night 2 did nothing for me.
I think the Triple Threat was overhyped and didn’t live up to expectations. PG Hell in a Cell matches almost never deliver, so I wasn’t a fan when that rumor became a reality.
You replace the 6-Woman Tag and Cena/Theory with Bianca/Asuka and Cody/Roman… maybe adding Gunther/Drew/Sheamus… you have the greatest in-ring WrestleMania of all time.

I rewatched both nights again recently. Apart from the women’s tag match, Night Two, while nowhere near as good as Night One, was still an awesome show. I’d put 39 as my favourite Wrestlemania, and Charlotte and Rhea as my favourite women’s match in general.
