Always enjoyed Foley. My earliest memories of him are the attacks on Sting with Abby in 1992 WCW. That episode of Clash is a favorite of mine.
I didnt recognise him at first as Mankind but as I've said here recently? his feud with UT was a highlight for me in 1996. It was the only thing I wanted to see in the summer of 96 from the WWF.
loved his slow face turn and the return of Jack in 1997....LOVED heel Dude in 1998 as McMahons stooge and those 2 matches against Austin were white hot. Felt he lost his way a bit after that until Sept of 1998 but from then until his retirement? he could do very little wrong.
also enjoyed Commish Foley and his 2 returns against Orton & Edge. Hated his heel stuff in 06 though. came across as forced and just rubbish.

I don't respect him one bit. So what question would you have that doesn't make me a "real pro wrestling" fan? Just because almost everyone likes him means that I have to? I don't care for his garbage death matches with Terry Funk in Japan. Garbage matches like that don't need any talent whatsoever. I don't care for his promos. They are nonsensical. From his cheap pops, and I don't care that's part of his gimmick, from him basically blowing himself every time he talks about himself. The HITC match was more garbage. It takes no talent at all to fall from very high places. What does that achieve? It just makes me think he was a moron for doing it. And I don't care. The whole going through the roof was planned and no matter what Bruce Prichard wants to say, there was a reason the cage had zip ties and when Taker choke slammed Foley he knew not to step on that piece. Ooooooh, he can fall onto thumb tacks, ooooooh he can take 12 chair shots to the head, ooooooh, splat on concrete, ooooooh fall through a table that's on fire. I'm not impressed. And I just think he's an bunghole. I was at the Sabu benefit show years ago and Foley was signing autographs and this little girl asked him if he could sign her arm, she had to be around 5 or 6. Foley just looked at her and said "only if you get 40 bucks from your parents". And no, that's not a lie or a fabrication, that's what he said. I mean come on, he couldn't just scribble anything for this little girl? She was very upset. And blah blah blah, good day, bad day, whatever. That right there made me not respect him the most. And don't give me the whole he doesn't owe anyone anything. That's my opinion on the guy, I'm not sorry if it's not the same opinion that others have. You had a negative experience which I totally understand. Same thing happened to me with Flair and HHH. They were total dicks. Me personally, I still respect them for their contributions and careers, but if you don't feel that way about Foley then that's understandable.

found it kind of sad that he was reduced to what he never wanted to be during his time with tna, but overall a tremendous talent.
great stuff in ecw, wcw, wwf.

Commissioner was good & the stuff with Orton Edge were classics, I’d say his heel run in 06 was actually entertaining, I loved it. We should have got Cena vs Heel Foley in 06.

Love Foley. Was he a technical genius? No, but he knew how to tell great stories and put on 5* matches despite his lack of athleticism. And nobody can deny he wasn’t one of the biggest names during the Attitude Era. After Austin and Rock, it can be argued he was the #3 biggest name in the company for a time (even to the point many fans and analysts wanted WM15s main event to become a triple threat). I agree. Foley was one of the biggest stars ever, highly underrated tbh.

I feel like TNA may have been a really bad time for him. Based on the time period when there seemed to be more issues with him at signings, I think this was around the time of his TNA run. It was probably also before his daughter started going with him to shows. I can't imagine the brain and body trauma he does have and that surely could be a reason why someone might not be who we hope they are when we meet them.

Somehow one of the most under appreciated guys in wrestling’s history. Gave the three biggest stars of the Attitude Era in Rock, Austin, and Triple H arguably some of their best matches. Not to mention the work with Undertaker and the Mind Games match with Shawn. And that’s only his WWF run. His work in WCW was innovative and his promo work in ECW is some of the all time best. Was definitely more than a “stunt man.” To this day has one of the best all time first championship wins and perfectly depicted the underdog babyface. Love Foley. Probably personal top 20 all time.

Not gonna lie, I find it hard to think much of him after reading others experiences with meeting him and what happened when I met him.
Wasn’t the biggest deal but I bought a photo and autograph combo and when I got up to present my ticket the guy with him marked me down for just an auto. I showed him my info and said I bought the combo. His exact words were “that can’t be right. Give me another $20 and you can get pic.” I declined. I got to the table and Mick sarcastically said, “So no pic, huh?” And scoffed
I’m not gonna judge his entire career and existence solely based off that but it definitely made me care a lot less for Mick. I understand what he means to some fans and all that but personally he doesn’t come close to cracking my top 10

Was there any way you could have talked to someone managing the show? I wonder if the ticket taker was a show employee or a Mick friend. Mick probably tries to bleed as much as he can at shows. When he said "no pic?" you should have told him the problem with the ticket taker. I'm sure Mick wouldn't have cared. There was a story a year or two ago of a guy pre paying for Bret Hart to sign a funko and the ticket taker made him pay more at the table. The show manager claimed he had nothing to do with it when the guy posted online. I had a similar issue with a Larry Csonka appearance at a show. A woman taking the tickets, who may have been a top person in the show's management because she was there for years who was always quite difficult and downright nasty. She took my two tickets (one auto, one inscription) and said "autograph only" to which I told her "I gave you an inscription ticket too." She had him sign an inscription but it really sucks when the person next to them has to be a problem.

By that point, I didn’t feel like dealing with the drama of arguing and getting the event manager involved. I took my loss and moved on Hindsight, I kinda wish I would’ve made a big deal over it. I’ve got his auto on the RSC Cactus so that’s good enough. I will now thoroughly go over my tickets and make sure I’m getting what I paid for from now on. Every other wrestler I met that day was a great experience, Luger and DDP specifically were awesome.

I met Foley in Dublin in 09. He couldn't have been nicer He did a stand-up style show in Dublin around 2012ish. I know people that went who go to comedy gigs alot & said Foley's show had one of the worst cases of heckling they've ever seen. Foley was new to the one man show game at the time so struggled to handle the situation. Edit: OSW's review of the night: oswreview.com/foleygig/

It was an absolute disaster of a night start to finish. EDIT: The hecklers ruined the derailed the show but the pre show meet and greet was awful too. Don't have a 90 minute break after a signing but before a show in Dublin on a Friday night. Half the room was pished by 10pm.

Absolute legend, if I have to show non-wrestling fan friends a match it will most likely be him.
He opened the door for Average Joes in the business to be taken seriously IMO.
His in ring work was smooth and original.
I just wish he called DDP to get better, but he did state once he thought Kane was 'the smartest man he ever met' so that kinda says a lot about him as a man/citizen.
But deep down he is a weirdo just like all of us!

Foley has basically done a lot for many stars from different eras, that right there makes him a certified legend in the business.

I think if you weren't around for it you don't really grasp how he was a huge star in 1999 - one of the most famous wrestlers ever that year - I think hes also such a unique wrestler - what he did right he did perfect
