If they had lived from 2005 to let's say 2015 would have main evented any of the future wrestlemania's. I know Guerrero was supposed to have high profile match with HBK at WM 22. What would have Benoit's role been. One must think he would have definitely feuded with returning Chris Jericho in 2007. Would he had somehow got into title picture at wrestlemania 24 or 25? Impossible to tell. Thoughts?

I wrote a alt reality for Guerrero where he retired at WM 26. I’ll have to grab it.

I still don't believe that Guerrero vs. HBK was gonna happen at Wrestlemania 22.
With how they released Bret Hart's DVD set in November and Vince and HBK having on air feud, and costing HBK the Royal Rumble and such, it was always gonna be Mr. McMahon vs. HBK at Wrestlemania 22.

Besides Eddie being transitional champion in late 2005. Both would have stayed primarily in the midcard for the rest of their careers. Benoit wanted to open a wrestling school. Guerrero probably would have stayed working behind the scenes in WWE. Both probably would have ended up going to AEW due to WWE's broken system that only recently is being fixed.

Eddie was scheduled to become world champ again but after that feud was done? It was back to the Midcard upper mid for him like Benoit.

I was really into the stuff he was doing with Batista and I was interested to see how far that could have gone.

I could see one being a producer in AEW and one being a producer in WWE.
Maybe one more world title run for each in the late 2000s/early 2010s. I could see them retiring around 2013/2014.

Focusing more on Benoit, since i fantasy booked the timeline for him a few years ago.
From memory, i had him winning the ECW Title as he was planned to at Vengeance, then continuing a 'friendly' rivalry with Punk, to which Punk would turn heel. It would go to Summerslam with Benoit retaining, then both guys going on to separate work for a few months. Benoit working guys Morrison, Burke etc... While Punk working brief feuds with the mid card faces of ECW, like Dreamer etc...
Eventually, their rivalry would renew for WrestleMania 24, with Punk ultimately beating Benoit for the ECW Title. Then in a post match segment, Benoit offering to shake Punk's hand out of respect (Much like Summerslam 04 with Orton), to which Punk would eventually embrace and start working face again, carrying the ECW brand. Apparently after Benoit's autopsy, he was only predicted to live for another 10 months had he not died in June 2007. So if true, he would have died around April 2008. So this match with Punk would have been one of his final moments in wrestling.
Let's say he never died, and would have lived after 2008. I definitely could have seen him work the mid card throughout 2008, maybe on Raw post draft, with the occasional Main Event title match at say, Unforgiven or No Mercy. Then being drafted back to Smackdown in 2009, working with guys like Rey & Jericho for the IC Title. From there, i would think he'd be on his way out in early - mid 2010. Whether running a retirement angle into WrestleMania, or just stepping away quietly throughout the year, i think by Summerslam he would have been retired.
From there, i would assume he'd open the Wrestling School he planned to do, as well as work backstage for WWE, before eventually becoming the head coach at the Performance Centre. Where in Eddie's case, had he lived and retired, could see also being the head coach. With both guys becoming WWE lifers.

Both guys would've been out of the WWE by 2009. Their bodies wouldn't have been able to handle the schedule for that much longer. They might have taken a deal in TNA with a lighter schedule and then maybe come back later as part timers.

Slightly different but what about Owen/Bret if they had stayed in WWF 98-03. Obviously they would have had matches with Kurt Angle. Bret wouldn't have had concussion from Goldberg so would WWF still push him as main eventer in 2001. I'd guess they would have had roles similar to Undertaker. Veteran whose has occasional big match.

They would became part timers and took long breaks from wrestling in my opinion... would they still be wrestling part time in 2023?
I’d say they would have maybe fully retired between 2017-2023 and they would have become part timers by 2010.

Eddie Guerrero Alternate Timeline 2005- (I am putting this in spoiler quotes by year for you because it’s too much to scroll through.) 2005 -
Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio would have slow burning tension going into Judgment Day 2005. With the duo continuing to show dissent going into Tag Team title match with the new upstart arrogant entitled heel tag team of MNM.
Eddie and Rey Mysterio seemed to be favorites going in with both mens experience and resumes within the company at this time. And both men would excel in various outings against MNM, but the lingering differences and Eddie’s jealousy were starting to show.
Eddie and Rey seemed to have their act together at Judgment Day, and showed various impressive team work. However that would fizzle as differences started to show. Following this defeat both men would have outburst but not quite yet showing Eddie going full heel.
The team would seem to be on a better page, when Eddie’s wife Vickie got in the middle much like a mediator. With Eddie and Rey having their rematch 2 weeks later on SmackDown, with Eddie snapping and brutally attacking Rey Mysterio. With Eddie’s wife watching in shock and horror.
Great American Bash 2005
Eddie would cut a series of promos going into the event about Rey showing a very cold side of himself. In this world John Cena would still be drafted to Raw, but SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long with hopes to keep a world title on SmackDown would goat Cena into defending his title at the Judgment Day event.
Long would be very focused on keeping the title and giving Cena an elite challenger and competitor. Eddie would be eyed as the contender by Long due to his new aggressive nature reluctantly. Rey would be on the sidelines of the brutal attack. As Eddie would show his new levels of brutality reprising his feud with Cena.
Eddie alluding to his WWE title reign and Cena was nothing more than US Champion when he was. People like Cena stealing his spot. Long would be put in a moral dilemma rewarding someone the fans have lost respect for, needing his WWE Championship, and seeing Eddie, one of his most respected stars, coming to these ends. Long with all this said, I would tell Eddie going into the event ‘’By any and all means’’.
Eddie would come close to outwitting the young rookie champion Cena, however with the help of Rey Mysterio, Cena would get the victory. With Rey thwarting Eddie’s attempt to steal the win.
Summer Slam 2005
Eddie would have another outburst saying how much of BS friend Rey Mysterio is. And that Rey always wanted to see Eddie fail. Eddie mentions how in the last year since he lost the WWE Championship, he’s had some tough times. His recent defeats, his marriage, and Rey just enjoying and profiting off it. Rey just wants to see him fall.
Rey would try to rationalize and even mention how Eddie has lost his way as a person and a friend. Rey would try to deescalate the situation. However Eddie’s rise in aggression would continue to stop this. With Vickie getting into the situation.
Vickie after breaking up a brawl on SmackDown between the two would get caught in the crossfire after Rey accidentally went to hit Eddie with a chair and Eddie moved. Emotions were running high as Eddie would further use this to intensify the situation going into the PPV.
A Falls Count Anywhere match was set for the event. It was a brutal war between both men. Eddie had it won, but Rey creeped out with a rollup to get the win.
No Mercy 2005
Eddie Guerrero would continue down this dark streak after his defeat at SummerSlam. Eddie Guerrero would form a slow and unlikely friendship with Batista fending him off from attacks from JBL, Mr. Kennedy and other SmackDown Brand heels. Rey would try to intervene and talk Batista out of it and mention it to Batista; Eddie isn’t right in the head.
This would lead to a Fatal Way 1# contenders match on SD for the WHC against Eddie, Rey Mysterio, JBL, and Randy Orton.
Eddie won this match earning continued respect from Batista. The moral dilemma surrounds Batista trusting Eddie going into No Mercy 2005.
Batista would edge out a victory, and many would think Eddie was going to take Batista out after the match. But the duo managed to shake hands and Eddie would continue to earn the respect of Batista.
Survivor Series 2005
Going into Survivor Series 2005 the brand warfare angle is much like our world. With Eddie being on the team. And continuing to call Batista his friend going into the PPV. Even to the extent of being Co-Captain. Rey would continue to interject in this situation.
Interactions between Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guerrero would be hunted with both men cutting some promos on eachother hinting to something larger.
The great battle of brand turf war hung over this storyline. However the hint of team fallout due to Eddie/Rey was very real in this situation.
Eddie would give his heart out in the performance much like the Eddie of old. However Eddie would be eliminated by Shawn Michaels. However it paved the way for Randy Orton to get the win by eliminating Shawn Michaels.
Armageddon 2005
With Orton claiming the victory but faced the consequences of the Undertaker’s return in our timeline. Orton’s title shot was pushed back, however Eddie Guerrero for his stellar performance was given the title shot by the champion himself.
Eddie Guerrero and Batista’s friendship continued as Eddie would try to build this as some sort of dream match sequel.
Eddie and Batista faced each other in a high intensity match. However; Eddie would steal the win when Batista’s leg gave out during the Batista Bomb attempt. Eddie would slowly exploit this and take this to finally becoming World Heavyweight Champion.
2006
Royal Rumble 2006
Eddie Guerrero would start showing himself more in the light of the Old Eddie Guerrero fully, acting much like he was prior to the Summer.
However his friendship with Batista would strain, building up to a rematch on the New Years SmackDown. Eddie Guerrero would win the match, with Batista being injured like in our timeline.
Randy Orton would invoke his rematch clause even after defeat from The Undertaker. Randy Orton would look to expose Eddie as a fraud. And Stealing Orton’s World Title shot, because Orton got busy with an old score. Eddie would be placed in a more solid Face role over the young arrogant Orton.
Eddie at the event would again trade words with Michaels and lead to verbal confrontation in the backstage, Eddie would go on to have a classic match with Orton. With Eddie clearing the victory, and Kurt Angle winning the 2006 Royal Rumble.
No Way Out 2006
Eddie Guerrero would have his horizons set for WrestleMania 22, with big ideas of even facing the Undertaker and defeating the streak. Eddie would throw out these big ideas until he was given a rude awakening by an old rival in Rey Mysterio.
Rey Mysterio would goad Eddie into a match stating Eddie has never beaten him. And would continue to poke at Eddie putting on a show. And Eddie further alienated his wife Vickie. And then Eddie just used this as a publicity stunt to get himself back into the World Title picture. You did it Eddie; at what cost?
Emotions would run high as Eddie would become unhinged as he would go after Rey. And Superstars from the roster would rush out to break it up. Eddie would give him a match at No Way Out 2006 in a Ladder match. Eddie would try to target Rey in the weeks building up; trying to make Rey not show up to No Way Out. Targeting and decimating Rey’s knees.
Eddie would finally have Rey beat, but Raw’s Shawn Michaels would come from the crowd and attack Eddie when he least expected it. Shawn would nail Eddie with Sweet Chin Music leaving the arena.
Rey and Eddie would go into a dog fight mode with Rey finding his way to stop Eddie and climb the ladder and win the World Heavyweight Championship.
WrestleMania 22
Eddie Guerrero would come to run to confront Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels saw it as giving the fans exactly what they want. Shawn mentioned being out of a WrestleMania match this year, and WrestleMania is his show to steal. The tensions that started brewing at Survivor Series would be on full display.
Eddie mentioned being better than Shawn and he doesn’t need this match. And he doesn’t need to prove it with Shawn living past his decade of expiration. Eddie states he wants his World Title back and he wants to settle the score with Rey Mysterio at WM 22 instead.
Eddie would get popped with Sweet Chin Music for his answer. Eddie would retaliate by attempting to destroy Shawn’s back in a savage parking lot attack. Stating if Shawn won’t let him pursue what he wants he will stop Shawn from ever interfering with anyone else.
Shawn would return to SmackDown again stopping Eddie from gaining entry into WM 22 World Title match by facing Randy Orton, Kurt Angle in Triple Threat if Eddie wins he’s added. Shawn would once again cost Eddie the match.
The match would be set as a clash of styles and generations was on the way with Raw and SmackDown both signing off on this interpromotional face off.
Shawn Michaels would defeat Eddie Guerrero at the grandest stage of them all, but before his grand celebration. He was low blowed and dropped in front of the Chicago crowd by Guerrero.
Backlash 2006
Guerrero with endorsement from the McMahons would be given a rematch at Backlash. Guerrero would try to prove he could beat Shawn Michaels. And would grow worse in his mental image and mindset then he was last summer. Guerrero would this time face Shawn in a Street Fight on a more savage note than WrestleMania 22.
With Eddie winning the match with Steel pipe shot to the head followed by Frog Splash off a ladder.
Judgment Day 2006
Eddie Guerrero would once again set his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship by entering into the 2006 King of The Ring Tournament. The smoke was clearing between standoffs between the veteran and the young hungry rookie Bobby Lashley going into the event.
One looking to settle his score with Rey Mysterio and one looking to establish himself in the main event scene. Eddie by years of grit and years of lying, cheating and stealing would take the 2006 KTOR.
Eddie would build to the Great American Bash 2006 title shot against Rey Mysterio. Rey who would defend his title against ECW’s newest star Kurt Angle in Falls Count Anywhere match at the One Night Stand 2006.
Guerrero would state he would insure Rey wins, so he gets what he’s owed. Guerrero would even try to stop the match by taking on Kurt Angle on an episode of ECW. With it ending in a no contest.
Rey would go into the PPV and defeat Angle. Eddie Guerrero and Rey would now focus on their title endeavors. As a Steel Cage match was set for the World Heavyweight Championship and built to settle the score. While also this was built at Eddie’s last chance at Mysterio.
Eddie would defeat Rey in the Steel Cage in a dramatic blood filled match. With Eddie once again the World Heavyweight Championship.
Summer Slam 2006
Eddie would align himself with his nephew Chavo Guerrero soon after. Eddie would look to a Summer Slam challenge stating he’s back on top.
The callout would be answered by The Deadman himself.
The man Eddie never got to in his 2004 Title reign. Eddie would try to hype himself up not being fearful. And using Chavo as his right hand man.
The Undertaker would mention Eddie having to answer for his sins and he's a man who treated everything in life for the World Title. Essentially he sold his soul. The Undertaker informs him he’s come to collect it.
The two would face off in a highly anticipated World Title match, ending with a DQ after Chavo would save Eddie from defeat. The Undertaker would tear it up and leaving his mark ramming Eddie threw part of the set and tombstombing Chavo on the rampway.
No Mercy 2006
A rematch was set between the two at No Mercy. As Teddy Long would insist on it. Eddie would get WWE corporate involved. As No Contact clause was set. As Eddie would antagonize the Undertaker in the build up. A Beat the Clock match was set with the winner choosing the stipulation. Eddie would attempt to use Chavo to delay a match with Undertaker and Booker T.
However, it would fail and Chavo would accidentally nail Booker with brass knuckles in the crossfire.
Eddie would face Rey Mysterio as Eddie would have pre match attack Rey to try to swipe quick win. Rey's long time rival would use it to delay Eddie and gain some level of revenge.
The Undertaker without touching Eddie would use his mind games and druids to delay Eddie and allowing Rey to score a huge victory. And giving the Undertaker the advantage.
Eddie would mock this stating the idea of casket match. Eddie would defeat Funaki in one and mock The Undertaker’s antics. However, Undertaker would give Eddie a reality check and state the Buried Alive match.
Fear would settle upon Eddie Guerrero building to this high stakes World Title match at No Mercy 2006.
Eddie would defeat The Undertaker with help from Chavo Guerrero.
Survivor Series 2006
Eddie Guerrero after No Mercy would want to settle the score with Rey Mysterio for good. No titles, but to put Rey on the shelf for good. Eddie would attempt this but Undertaker would stop it.
Batista would be back in the title picture and Eddie would be on edge as Eddie would try to recruit Batista to his side for Survivor Series. Eddie would try to start a feud between Batista and Rey Mysterio.
This continued as Chavo would be dragged into a feud as Eddie’s right hand man. Batista would slowly relent against Eddie. Eddie would attempt to set Batista up and have Batista taken down.
Batista would be saved from Rey Mysterio and Batista would show strong showing against the Guerreros. This feud would tie in with some other top level SmackDown stars.
Batista’s quest for reclaiming the World Title was also forming into a focal point.

Eddie Guerrero would plant seeds of doubt with the victory at Survivor Series 2006 and Eddie’s continued tactics to get in Batista’s head. And take credit for Batista’s injury. Eddie would also mock the fact he got so close to Batista just to bring him down.
Batista would overcome Guerrero at the PPV and take back his Second World Heavyweight Championship.

No Way Out 2007

Corvon is looking to continue to legitimize his run with the title looking to the legends challenge as a way to assert himself. Eddie, still not viewed in a great light by the fans, would look to work around Corvon’s brute force.
However Corvon’s raw athleticism and strength was something to eclipse the 40 year old.

I genuinely don't see Rey getting that title run in 2006 without Eddie passing.

I genuinely don't see Rey getting that title run in 2006 without Eddie passing. 100% he doesn't win the Rumble if Eddie was still aroun then. I could see HHH winning again.

I always had it in mind that Eddie would have continued on as full time-ish until about 2007-8. Then he'd be part time until 2012. He'd been pushing himself pretty hard and he wouldn't have been able to go much longer past 42 unless he super pulled it back.
Similarly, Benoit had been pretty much going without a break since 2001-2. And that was only because of his neck injury. So he would have definitely taken a break by 2009.
I would have seen him go sporadic after that and finally hanging up his boots by 2011.
I could see him helping out a lot in NXT similar to Matt Bloom.
