Anybody notice that the colors on the blue chase Shamrock’s kneepads are inverted? I looked through dozens and dozens of pictures and in every one, Shamrock’s blue gear either has blue knee pads over black compression pads or knee pads that are blue with a black circle on the front and black on the back of the kneepad. But this figure is painted in a way that looks like he has black kneepads over blue compression pads. I can’t find a single picture of Shamrock wearing that, so it must be a mistake.
Personally, I think painting the knee area black and throwing blue or green open back knee pads on was the better move for a nicer look, but I digress. It would be nice to get a running change to fix the colors. I mean, they did a running change to give Lex Luger the Hogan arms, so why not this?

I think it's time for new kneepad mold with softer material like they been doing as it seems a cases by case basis in elbow pads.
I'm wondering if Mattel has more than one manufacturing plant, because the materials are all inconsistent.
Take title belts for example. Some titles are nice and pliable, while others are hard and stiff.
You cant tell me the new Cena 100 title is using the same material as the current legends apa tag titles. Night and day difference.

They're based on the blue with black circle that you mentioned.

They’re close enough. They could have just made them solid black or solid blue. Maybe if there was an Ultimate Ken they could step it up a bit.

They're based on the blue with black circle that you mentioned. I don’t think they are, because if you look at the knee pads on the figure, the paint is patterned in a way that makes it look exactly like the two-piece kneepads but with inverted colors. The pattern looks nothing at all like the ones you’re showing. So if you’re right, they got the look completely wrong. The green version are painted the same way, but the color is correct. All Mattel needed to do on the blue version is invert the colors and they’d be fine.

A better choice would have been to paint the knees black like nWo X-Pac or Finn Balor and put blue or green small knee pads on. That’s the most accurate look and it would’ve given better range of motion for an ankle lock pose.

If they were paying that much attention to detail, he would have had the smaller kneepads (green or blue) with black painted underneath.

I’ll take whatever kneepads if they give us a long haired Wayne Shamrock from the Fujiwara Gumi days or Vince Torrelli.

It probably would’ve been cheaper than painting the kneepads, but that’s just a guess. Now that I have Shamrock in hand, the calf between the boot and the knee joint is painted black, so why not just give him the small kneepads in blue or green? It would’ve looked perfect and been cheaper. I swear, this just gives credence to the spreadsheet conspiracy. “We already got Ken Shamrock in the spreadsheet from his first figure. It clearly says he gets knee sleeves. I don’t care if it looks bad and I don’t care if costs more. He gets knee sleeves, darn it!”

I asked Steve why Mattel decided on this. Instead of doing what they would do for a Triple H figure with painted knee straps and a small knee pad mold.
Even he said he doesn't know why they would made that choice.
I hate how this knee pads looks. Too bad there aren't other blue knee pads to replace these with.

Y’all gotten way outta control on this type of stuff lol I think you’re projecting things I didn’t do onto me for some weird reason. I know exactly what Corporate Ken Shamrock is supposed to look like in his most iconic and long-used WWF attire. It’s been my most wanted figure since I started collecting 11 years ago. So Heaven forbid I get a little annoyed that my most wanted figure that I paid $23 for has crappy knee pads that could’ve easily been corrected from the jump and been a perfect figure. I’ll stop breaking up the monotony of you seeing another “What is your most wanted Ultimate figure?” thread for the 40th time.

Yes. They should have painted the black underneath and then used the medium size pads in blue over the painted knee area. Even those aren't right either because only the small pads are open in the back and they refuse to give us new ones, even after 13 years of this stuff being wrong. Add it to the list... they don't care that it's not right.

its just one of those small details they missed, which is really annoying but I still bought the figure and love it.

I'll get back to you as soon as I find a Blue one. This is the second Legends set in a row where I look all the time and haven't gotten the chase.
