How come they don’t make any modern star retros? Would like a Drew McIntyre or Cody themed one.

Part of the appeal/target market is for Legends that weren't made during the Golden Era, New Gen, Attitude, WCW days.
With that being said, I do think they should try to sell modern guys again in mass retail. That would be up to the retailers and Mattel though (shouldn't be exclusive to one retailer IMO).
Mattel should have enough data now for demand. They might lose some sales from old school collectors who won't buy modern guys, but then you have some collectors who will buy everything and you get kids hooked on them. The price point has to work tho. If they are more than $10, I don't see a lot of parents buying them over basics/elites. We also need belts. Who wants a collection without champions?

They tried it when they did Retros at retail. I bought all of them, but now that it's an exclusive line, they seem to be sticking to classic superstars. I think it would take the line really taking off again for them to try it a second time.

There isn't a ton of demand for them unfortunately. A good way to garner heel heat on the Retro forum is to suggest some modern names be brought back into the line I'm with you though, considering we got as many current stars as we did, getting some more key names would actually be nice. Cody and Drew, Bobby Lashley, The Miz, THE USOS c'mon...I'd be really happy to have those. If they can ever bring women into the line I feel like they'd almost have to go current before long. Becky, Charlotte, Bianca and Bayley are every bit as legendary as the women of yesteryear. The Mattel Creations lines should probably be left to classic superstars, but I would totally welcome an occasional ringside wave of current stars. Especially now that the people I watch on TV each week actually feel like important stars!

It failed as a mass retail line, so they pretty much abandoned the idea to interest any normal people in it. It’s 100% for us old Hasbro heads now, and there’s a massive nostalgia bias to that limited market. There are lots of current wrestlers who’d be great in the style - Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Bianca Belair, Ronda Rousey, Asuka, Charlotte Flair etc - but I don’t see it happening.
