One of the best things this has illustrated is online is a microcosm of a niche and you can’t take either or any opinion as gospel or literal “Wcw stage, take my money” - doesn’t mean put out a stage and I’ll buy it. It means if a stage is out out at s price which makes sense to me and I’m personally in a position where it’s possible snd I like the figure(s) bundled I’ll buy it “Hogan sucks, no one wants it” means “I personally don’t like the hogan or need it” not that anyone doesn’t want it “We need more wcw figures” doesn’t mean we necessarily want big playsets but more wcw figures. However it also doesn’t mean another section don’t want big play sets As a “community” the ages, likes, collections, finances, home situation etc are vastly different. If this crowdfund has illustrated anything is that there’s a hundred different pockets who each want, can afford, dislike etc as many different things as the other groups like. A lot of arguing and division around it is ‘worth’ it, it isn’t ‘worth it’ etc but ultimately the only person who can decide if it’s worth it for them (for them being key) is the individual themselves. I think it's also shown that a ton of wrestling figure collectors are just not ready to spend this much on a premium item/aren't used to this type of price bracket. I'm the opposite -- this was a Day 1 immediate purchase for me, and honestly I would pay more for it. These are exactly the type of premium items I want as an adult wrestling figure collector. I also have experience buying Hot Toys in the past in this $300-400 price point; so much of the discussion/debate that I've seen on the forum and the various Facebook groups leads to me to believe that a lot of wrestling fig collectors don't have much experience with that price point. This is not a criticism of them, and at the same time I'm not trying to prop myself up either. I just didn't have the same type of sticker shock that it seems like a lot of others have had because I've bought Hot Toys before. I also wish just in general that the payment plan option was stressed so much louder by both Mattel and by fans. There's a reason why for those of us who buy Hot Toys, it is loud and clear from the start that various payment plans are available and welcomed and embraced. Most of us who buy those could never, ever afford them otherwise, but the payment plan option is a big piece of the puzzle. A couple payments of $100 for me (or even $30/month for a year) are so much more doable than $400 straight up imo for this item. I do think that concept needs to be learned/accepted/gotten used to by a good chunk of the wrestling fig community.

Pretty much everything you said resonates with me and my feelings on how this had gone. I too have been a Hot Toys buyer for quite a while now so I’m used to price points in this region and a few beyond. Something akin to what Sideshow has for stuff with their flex pay maybe would’ve helped entice some people. Of course with that you already know that the figure is coming and doesn’t need to meet a threshold for production.

I dreamt about the stage last night lol. No figures with it, just the entrance itself. Thing was massive. I was playing with the light functions and couldn’t believe I actually had it in my possession - and without paying for it. I thought I was an influencer or something. It was great. Mattel has infiltrated my most private thoughts and I can’t decide if I should seek help or place my order already.

The world just isn't ready for this. How many ultimate edition wcw figures are there? Goldberg/hogan/Macho. Any more? They went from dipping their feet in the wcw market to all in. The price is silly but I'd pay it if it had good figures.
An exclusive Nash - Hall - hogan nwo -Eric bischoff and maybe a never to be made again (like doink) curt hennig would have captured the moment better.
I don't think this will get funded. But hope they will release it as a stage on its own for those that want it. The figure choices were terrible.

International customers understand it's not free to ship to the UK, but the mark up covers way more than it should do. The stage in the US $400 (£325 approx) The stage in the UK £509 ($637) $237 dollars apparently includes the duties, tax and shipping. That's £189. Customs would be approximately £65. I'm telling you right now it does not cost £124 to ship that stage from the US to the UK so International customers are paying way more for the same product. I've tried to break that down as simply as possible so hopefully some in the thread realise where the anger is coming from outside of the US. That being said, I'm still hopeful it gets backed for those who want it. Not my bag WCW, but would back if it was better value for us in the UK. I did with New Gen and that's still in the shipper haha This is my breakdown that got buried a few pages ago. I think it's more accurate than the other one doing the rounds personally, so hopefully members can see where we're coming from. I posted a calculation a few pages back, so here it is again: - Item cost: £325 - Shipping surcharge: £60, according to the Mattel FAQ. - Total before any VAT/customs: £385- 20% for VAT - 4% for Duties/Customs (https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/find_commodity) - VAT/Customs always includes the shipping cost (https://www.fedex.com/en-gb/shipping-channel/customs-clearance/duties-taxes.html) - Total VAT/Customs: £92All-in Total: £477. This is inarguable fact based on all available information. So at £509, it's overcharged by £32.

Are we really back to "initial hype and demand constitutes a contractual obligation to purchase upon availability" again? The other day I saw a 2023 model car I'd have liked to own. I got into the office, looked it up, saw "starting at $26k" and said "ha, nevermind". Thank God none of the local dealerships heard me. It also seems like we are going back to collectors are just poor and "aren't used to this level of premium item". Because that has to be the case, why else would an item that takes up 7.5 cubic feet, of a brand that has been dead for over 2 decades and is being released right before a recession, fail?

I won’t cover your difference but if you’d like you can purchase and send it to my address and I’ll ship it to you whatever it’s charged to ship and you worry about customs and all those extra taxes Mattel is charging you. I’d do this for any of our international brothas if needed. Anything to get this thing backed! I would do the same. Basically what I was asking re: if they ordered them to someone in the states to resend.

It’s sucks there aren’t the finance options for international buyers, but if you actually want the stage will you let £32 stop you getting a chance at it?

I dreamt that I backed this stage and shortly after, I became a drug addict. What does this mean!? Dreaming of all those nitro stage LEDs had you feeling like you were in the club…

Ah, yes - the poors, who've demonstrated a proven demand for the premium sized, premium priced playsets the WWE line has been synonymous with for nearly fifteen years.
