I see people talking about if they add another figure it would reach the goal, my honest opinion is even if DDP was added with Rey and Steiner it would look the same, maybe a little different if you added warrior but not a whole lot The issue I see here is lack of a limited release figure, making hogan a early bird was fine, but making it available To ALL backers was the issue, no rarity, makes it no more rare than any of the other figures, Mattel thought they fixed a problem by making it available to all backers, not at all, that just made things worse For example, I backed the new gen on the last day that macho was available like most, if macho wasn’t limited I would have backed it the last day of the fund cutoff, or maybe even not at all, the rarity of macho man pushed me to do it and do it quicker, I’m over macho man figures and have been for a while, it was all because of how rare this figure might be on day and as a collector I didn’t want to miss out If I was to think of a way to get this thing for sure to the 5k mark, Steiner would have probably been my early bird figure for about 3 weeks and then cut it off, making the figure extremely rare and getting this thing backed and then some.
I don't agree with your early bird point of view. I think unlocking for everyone is a much better way of doing it. Firstly, on the logistical side, Mattel don't have the pain in the hole of trying to ship out a figure to only a select number of people.
Secondly, and this is the big issue, if you do get your early bird unlocked, there are a lot of people who wouldn't have had the cash ready, or simply didn't know the crowdfund existed, who might only be looking to buy after the early bird is already over.
For those people, you're now giving them a reason not to back the product. 'Why should I pay the same as everyone else, but get less?'. And it's a fair argument. I know if I was interested in the New Gen and realised I wasn't getting Macho, then I wouldn't have backed. By giving the figure to everyone, you encourage early sales, but you also keep those who couldn't back in time happy aswell. Winner winner.
The problem here was the early bird was a figure that had been done to death and no one cared about (I appreciate they were trying for "pastamania", and it didn't work out, but a swapping around of the tiers and removing Hogan altogether would have been a better idea.

This is the approach mattel took. And clearly it didn’t work because almost nobody backed on the final day for the Hogan. Of course the figure sucked but the way the early bird was devised didn’t work at all either

Another thing I recall with Steve and Rob hitting up the podcasts and Steve doing the live stream showing off the entrance and doing the Q&A is that they were able to change the narrative about the New Gen set. People think that because it was fully funded with everything unlocked that there wasn’t any negativity around it or that it all went away when Macho was added. That definitely wasn’t the case as there was probably even more bad vibes towards that than the Nitro stage. But the last week that all seemed to disappear with the only complaint being Diesel was too plain and wish they would at the very least add the winged eagle. I believe I saw a podcast with Steve and Sam booked. Hopefully there’s more than that.

I don’t think the promo for this has been good at all That live stream will have had some cash pumped into it snd it barely moved the needle. DDP just wittered on for she’s a out himself as per usual and bored people

What's the confidence level that the final day of this sees movement similar to the final early bird day of the New Gen? If I'm not mistaken, that's when all the tiers were hit last time, so that's basically where this is at at this point.

I’ve seen the video from Steve which shows that you can reduce the stage to 5 single squares, does anyone know if this can reduce further….to 3 or even 2 squares? You won’t have a square to spare

The lighting arch is wider than one stage panel so you need at least 3 to keep that. If you nix the large banner structures and WCW letters from the stage, you can probably make it work with 3. The customization possibilities are really fun. I was setting things up on that shelf at work for my IG post and was really getting excited at the possibilities for other photo shoots/setups even beyond WWE/WCW.

I once did a crowdfund for a Hawaiian Restaurant that was originally just a food truck. I petitioned $75 which would get me a tshirt, a beer glass, and a flip flop on their wall with my name on it. On the last day they were at $10k of their $100k goal. I was like oh well I’ll get my $75 bucks back. Next morning they mysteriously reached their goal! Restaurant lasted less than a year and I never got the shirt, glass, or flip flop.
There are bailout investors. Mattel most certainly will not want to loose any investor $. This will get backed. Look for retail sales after initial investor shipping.

Look for retail sales after initial investor shipping. While some sort of guarantee like this would be great, it’s not the case. And to be honest, I think looking at this as an investor/money situation, while understandable, may be a little off. In my opinion, we’re looking to secure an order minimum which is 5K units for this particular item. This is standard for every item toy companies produce but it’s typically retailers who make those commitments. With these crowdfunded items, collectors directly are replacing the retailer in the equation. Could some smaller retailers or dot coms back some units and sell next year? Sure. But I don’t believe that’ll be a sizable chunk of backers.

Steve If this gets funded u gotta figure out a way to get us the flame mats around the ring . I was hoping they would be included as a tier maybe, if possible they can be a throw in like how y'all gave us the crowd display with the new gen set. their essential to the wcw setup. Maybe through a build a set like the heartbreak hotel.

Steve, can the main entrance stage be removable from the base? If I wanted to create, when WCW Nitro was at the Disney MGM Studios and possibly do some photography in an outdoor setting, could I possibly do that? Is it possible if I could remove the WCW letters off the block thing and display the WCW letters separately? If I wanted to do that?

Anyone think that if the warrior here doesn’t get unlocked, we could see it in the returning Defining Moments line exclusive to a ringside? I know it would be an elite, but still the figure is fantastic, in my opinion. That duster is incredible!

Same with Hogan.
