I wasn't collecting back in the day and am curious, how come series 47 was separated into a and b?
Some basic Googling doesn't seem to throw up an answer...

Im pretty sure it had to do with a logistics attempt at getting figs out before the Chinese New Year shutdown so there was less of a break in between series.
Could be wrong but thats how I recall it.

I believe you are right, it was an attempt to ship two different sets at the same time during the Chinese new year period to avoid one particular set being the set shipped for a longer period of time. I don’t think it totally worked though as those two sets ended up being shipped to second hand stores like Ollie’s, Big Lots, and Tj Max

Thanks for the answers, chaps. So, technically I guess you could make a case for series 99 being the real 100th series.

It was to provide a better selection at retail..at the time there was a lot of peg warmers sitting on shelves

I am pretty sure these were series scheduled to hit during the holidays and stores usually order more during this time. This typically results in those figures pegwarming after restocks. So the strategy would be to split the series into two parts shipping A first and B with the restocks. That way fresh product is on the shelf throughout the season.

This was one of my favorite series ever. Goldust is an excellent figure. And bossman is great. I can’t even remember what else there was but I think a couple more I bought
**edit - from above post I now remember I bought tatanka and pillman

First time AJ, Asuka, Tatanka, and universal belt, SWAT gear Boss Man we’ve been clamoring for, and a decent Cesaro. Not a dud in the series.

I remember getting excited to finally have elite Ascension figures being how that was probably at the time their only elite figures they ever have. Also that Goldust figure is amazing. Glad to have all three in my collection.
