Anyone know why the WCW Nitro stage is supposed to be $400 but is showing as £500 for us. I could be tempted for 400 USD but not for £500. The figure choices are very very poor but the stage is awesome.

I think it’s absolutely disgusting.
$400 in £s is around 320…we are being charged £180 more for the exact same product.
Like you, I cannot justify paying £500, especially when I know people are getting the same thing for so much less.
I’ve used their website to contact them, but doubt I will get a response. I’ve also tweeted that Acton figure attack Steve Ozer guy but he won’t acknowledge either.
Honestly, been collecting all my life but I’m at the stage where I just think Mattel are taking the … you know what … out of U.K. collectors now

Unfortunately this will be a deal breaker for most in the UK and Europe, which in turn will probably end up costing this reaching all tiers. Surely this is where mattel creations uk should be fully utilised to help all involved

since the UK left the EU, import/export taxes and duties are more expensive, so Mattel has to back charge you for theirs (so they can make a profit) and you end up paying theirs and yours.

I order a ton of stuff from the US and the duties are largely unchanged. And in any case, even if some fees are higher, they're nowhere near 56% combined, which is what this is (£320+£180).

Largely unchanged as in LESS or MORE??? What is the import threshold there? I assume Mattel would be over the threshold (getting into UK for their distributor) and hence why they divide the cost to the buyer

Some items have no duties, some have the same, some have more. Ordering toys has been unchanged, for me. The threshold for the 4% duty tax to apply is £135. Anything under that isn't subject to duty tax. They wouldn't get near the upper limit (£630).

If 1,000 poms buy it Mattel will be paying a bit! Why do you think if not this, you are paying more then?

Why do you think if not this, you are paying more then? You've slightly misunderstood. That threshold applies a) per item and critically b) to the recipient, not the sender. If this was sold from Ringside Collectibles (as an example), I would be charged 24% (VAT+4%). RC might offer to pre-pay the 24%. Either way, it's 24%. If I ordered enough of them to go over £630, then I might be charged more. Mattel are pre-paying the fees and hence up-charged the item, regardless of whether you ordered 1 or 20. But they've up-charged by 56% per item. Even if you factor in shipping costs (which are also subject to the 24% charge), there's still a hefty unexplained margin in there. Interestingly, as a singular bulk delivery (I assume they'll all arrive roughly at the same time), large corporations are regularly able to negotiate discounts and actually get rates below 4%.

Would love this, but Mattel are out of their minds if they think its worth £500. No wonder they've only managed to scrape just over 1k backers so far.
