That's what tonight was. As big as a Hulkamaniac I am even I knew Hollywood Hogan should have done a clean job to Sting that night. Tonight was the perfect story for Cody and they completely screw it up. Cody is done and honestly I think this hurts the guy that does beat Roman. What a mess after being so hot the last couple months. Sometimes knowing whats coming is more than okay. When I go to a pizza place and I order a pizza, smell the pizza cooking, ready to eat my pizza but they bring me a newspaper to eat instead, yea I'm surprised but not a good surprise. I'm not going back to that pizza place. I'm keeping peacock but only to watch retro stuff.

If Cody doesn't win the belt soon, it will be more like shades of Lex Luger in 1993... than Sting at Starrcade 97. Cody's done. It doesn't matter if he wins the belt on tom on Raw, he's done. This hurts everyone including Reigns. I thought maybe Montez Ford could beat Cody for the title sometime in the Fall but it doesn't matter now. This hurt everyone in the company. You will never get the story you had tonight. |

I wondered if after the 3 count that a ref would come down and say Solo interfered and the match will be restarted, leading to Cody's win.

Cody will be back. He's been red hot and honestly, I don't think there's anyone other than Seth who could be a contender for the championship. Speaking of which, I think Reigns has fought every worthy opponent thus far. Only guy left would be Bron Breakker, but he's still in NXT. I hope the Bloodline turns on Roman.

Nah this is more like WrestleMania 16 when Rock didn't win the title as everyone including myself thought he was winning! That sting thing was just politics that killed wcw, maybe this and the sale will kill wwe finally

Then he can eventually jump back to the competition, win the world title, and almost immediately lose it and then fans can act like it was a major moment in wrestling. God Luger was awful. |

Even tho they botched the finish at Starrcade, the right man walked out with the title.
At WrestleMania 39, that didn’t happen.

If it was any other show, and Cody lost to Roman in their first match together, like a MITB PPV, or a Backlash PPV, then it would be okay. But this was Wrestlemania! There was a chance for 80,000 fans to go absolutely crazy when Cody pinned Roman Reigns for the title. And it didn't happen.
I feel like Cody got the same treatment here that Drew McIntyre got at Wrestlemania 36. Only difference is, Drew won the WWE Title in front of zero fans, so the impact was underwhelming and sucked. Tonight, Cody lost in front of 80,000 fans and it was underwhelming and it sucked.

Nah it isnt Starrcade 97...much more there than this
The air was vacuumed outta the stadium when Cody lost. Fans weren't angry he lost they were f#ckin dumbstruck. Not thevrequired reaction...
Crazy good match & He lost dirty but still....

Imagine at Wrestlemania 12 if HBK didn't win the WWF Title off Bret Hart?? All that build up, the "boyhood dream comes true at Wrestlemania" stuff, and Shawn doesn't win the WWE Title....
Luckily WWE wasn't dumb enough to do that to Shawn Michaels or the fans!
And they could never possibly have a similar story line many years later that fans were invested in only to NOT put the WWE Title on said challenger.... oh wait, oops.
Was it because WWE still sees Cody as an AEW guy, so Roman had to beat him to say WWE beats AEW??
Was it because Cody broke the throne all those years ago on an AEW PPV with a sledgehammer??
Was it because they want Reigns to hold the WWE Title longer than CM Punk did 10 years ago??
Either way, they blew a chance at having Cody win the WWE Title in front of 80,000 screaming fans, and now he will most likely win it in front of 18,000 screaming fans at a normal monthly PPV... oops, PLE show.
