Interesting news
Obv endeavour own ufc (who’s figures are made through jazwares as we know) and if they buy wwe might be interesting if and when contracts come up for renewal if they want to streamline and have less third parties to deal with
CNBC’s headline of ‘Endevor to merge UFC and WWE’ is definitely and interesting word to use.

I think Mattel has been the BEST WWE figure producer of all time, despite my constant criticism of baffling decisions. I can't see any other company giving us the level of detail, scale and intricacy that Mattel has given us. If WWE ends their relationship with Mattel, I'm officially done. I'm literally cherry picking figures nowadays and I don't have the time and resources to start a new collection.

Do you know when their contracts end?? WWE extended their deal with Mattel in 2021. UFC Jazwares might already be dead (who knows?).

Mattel is a more well known name (although jazwares has a lot of good licenses) I was maybe thinking could we see mattel picking up ufc possibly? Could we see more crossover between the brands? Could the whole ‘you can only sign who we allow’ evolve to more like what jakks had where they could sign their own contracts? Lots of questions, hypotheticals but interesting points to consider imo

I remember in a Q and A Mattel said specific licenses require their own molds. I would love it if they were able to go out and sign people just like Jakks did. I'm sure we'd be able to fill in some gaps like getting a Kidman etc.

The way I get it is they’re both under the same parent company so presumably the overriding ‘brand’ is whatever this new conglomerate is called?

I can’t see Mattel touching UFC unless there are crossovers as mentioned.

If something like that happens, it'd be the perfect place for Brock vs Jones. That way it wouldn't have to be a UFC fight, but can be a "fight". I don't know who else could fit into that category. Maybe someone like Bron/Chad/Roman?

I am legitimately curious as to how this works on the contractual side of things. Like did Mattel have to go along with WWE wherever they were sold, regardless of who bought the company? Not to say Endeavour is some shining beacon on a hill, but say WWE was sold to a certain, not-quite-so-allegedly genocide-friendly royal family, would a Mattel, or any partnering corporation be able to void a deal if said buyer didn't meet corporate ethical, whatever standards??

I can’t see Mattel touching UFC unless there are crossovers as mentioned. Mattel has wanted the UFC license for over 10 years now but wasn't allowed to get it for obvious reasons. WWE and UFC being the same company now takes out that conflict of interest and Mattel gets the best selling toyline of all time. 💵💵💵💵💵💵

Jazwares ain’t put one a single UFC figure in years and they have AEW (for now), Mattel is keeping WWE and possibly getting UFC. There’s no universe where this ends up with Jazwares making WWE

There’s no universe where this ends up with Jazwares making WWE I don’t think anybody seriously mentioned Jazwares doing WWE. Or at least I hope nobody seriously thought that would be a possibility. Someone did mention they weren’t sure if Jazwares still does UFC. Hell, I don’t even know if Jazwares does AEW. They’re just getting trounced by what Mattel does.

Yeah my initial post was about could mattel potentially acquire the ufc license through this merger and potentially could there be wwe / ufc crossovers like I say making that easier The comparison being when TNA worked with an MMA company who were on the same network snd had a couple of mma stars wrestling / involved in angles etc. infact didn’t lashley go between both back when he was in TNA?

Yeah, Lashley had some bouts in Bellator while he was still wrestling in TNA/Impact. One time, after a fight, he was asked who he wanted next and said he wants a rematch against Eddie Edwards for the Impact World Championship 😆

I'm hoping for UFC legends: Dan Severn, Don Frye, etc. It would also be cool to get some Brock Lesnar figs in his UFC garb, if they can do the sponsor logos on the shorts.

I doubt this changes anything on the figure side any time soon.
If Mattel wanted the UFC figure license, they'd already have it. The brand tanked under Jakks in a much more favorable retail environment, and the Jazwares revival died a quiet death without being able to secure retail distribution at any major retailers. This isn't Star Wars and Marvel where they'll look to package both brands.
The bigger area for synergy would be cards (Panini already has WWE and UFC licenses) or video games (not sure who has what there).
I just don't think there's great demographic alignment for UFC, while WWE does. I assume Jazwares' contract has expired by now. But if UFC sees life as a toy line, I think it's a lot more likely to be with a smaller company than Mattel.
