Watching more details on this they say wwe and ufc will form a new publicly traded company
So the company will be named xxxxxxxx And then wwe and UFC’s will be two brands under that name?
Like how wwe has raw and smackdown as their brands?

man I'm really happy about this, as it HOPEFULLY allows Mattel the rights to go after legends outside the parameters they have to work in.

Akeem, OMG, Koko B Ware, Barbarian, Haku, Hercules, Rougeau Brothers, Bushwhackers, Mr Fuji, Dynamite Kid, Dino Bravo, Butch Reed, Demolition, Rick Martel, El Matador, Crush, Adam Bomb, Marty Jannetty - let's get more figures!

I'm hoping for UFC legends: Dan Severn, Don Frye, etc. It would also be cool to get some Brock Lesnar figs in his UFC garb, if they can do the sponsor logos on the shorts. I don’t think the Jakks figures even paid for sponsors I don’t even think UFC knew Jakks was doing the figures.

Interesting topic. My concern is after the 12 month transition and Vince leaves how many wrestlers will retire and cash out with him? See wcw for eg. having a corporate company with new execs who don't know anything about wrestling will destroy the brand. Honestly collectables that hold value today were not as valuable as they were 2 days ago and in 10 years may be worthless like wcw figs today?

They did it a bunch at the start of the line. It wasn’t a profitable system, so they moved to just using wrestlers under WWE Legends contracts.

Technically, yes they could individually negotiate but they couldn’t put them in the same line, with the WWE branding so it would’ve been tougher to sell a generic wrestling line (the contract with WWE may even have a clause that prevents them from negotiating with other wrestlers for competitive sake). The hope is obviously that this will be a semi-return to the Classic Superstars arrangement.

I think Mattel has been the BEST WWE figure producer of all time, despite my constant criticism of baffling decisions. I can't see any other company giving us the level of detail, scale and intricacy that Mattel has given us. If WWE ends their relationship with Mattel, I'm officially done. I'm literally cherry picking figures nowadays and I don't have the time and resources to start a new collection. Yeah, by far. Even with the complaints that myself and collectors have, today's figures are just a new standard that is far above Jakks, Hasbro, etc. My take is that the UFC figures were a massive flop. Jakks had the same issue back in 2008-2010. There are a few UFC stars that people want and you could probably make them all in the first set. Away from the top 8-10 billed fighters, people aren't going to collect everyone in a UFC line. Also, wrestling is much more "nerd" culture than it is sports culture. Wrestling fans love the Funko Pops and the figures, and often have other "nerdy" interests. I collect Marvel Legends and my love for wrestling and wrestling toys kind of put me onto collecting Marvel figures. The UFC fanbase is NOT the same at all. There's some crossover but I'd guess most people buy Conor McGregor and then never think about UFC figures again. I'd be surprised if Jazzwares made another UFC line or if Mattel picked it up right away.

Not to mention that within that 12 months the product under Vince may go back to being the baloney we saw last night and then you really have some dark WCW allusions on your hands…I feel like JR after Triple H attacked HBK, "he's gonna rot in hell for what he did here tonight…does he have no conscious, does he have no heart, does he have no soul?!?! YOU SONOFABITCH"

Most of the people who had a legends figure in the first threeish years of the line were independently signed

I know there’s super fans who know everyone on the cards and different promotions but they gift do infrequent. Wwe being on tv weekly means your as familiar with under card as you are upper tier talent I think if as you say have a handful of famous stars then a large supporting cast much lesser known

They used to do it in the first attempt at the Legends line in 2010-12. They stopped because it didn’t make good business sense.
