Two of the biggest & best ever... I’m going with HBK on this one but just barely, I love both guys but what if Bret didn’t retire in WCW?
I’d say he’d wrestle again in WWE on & off for a good 5-10+ years on a part time basis and he’d probably overtake HBK at that point... but what if HBK didn’t retire in 2010? Or what if he didn’t retire again in 2018?
I’d say he’d also go another 5-10 years on a part time basis on & off, which means he could have a shot at overtaking Bret once again.

This ones tough.
If Shawn never comes back from injury I probably go with Bret. I think Bret had accomplished more and played a bigger part in the business up to that point. Promo wise he was a little stiff, technical wrestling obviously second to none at the time.
Shawn's second run cemented it for me though. His feuds and matches with Taker, Trips, Jericho, Angle, Flair... just dream matches that for once lived up to expectation. Im going to go with Shawn.

the one thing we all have to remember...
HBK had to beat Hitman in order to become great (and champion) and never the other way around.

It depends.
1992 - 1994 I would have said Bret Hart
1995 - 1997 I would have said Shawn Michaels
So I am gonna say "tie" for this one.

I prefer Bret, but think Shawn is the greatest of all time.

I would give it to Bret Hart hands down if HBK hadn't come back with an improved attitude and put on WM classic matches with Ric Flair and the Undertaker. HBK's late career run gets him the nod

Shawn Michaels is my all time favourite, but this is hard to call. I actually think HBK has a better second run as he was not as selfish and worked much better with people.
However, I think Bret Harts stuff has aged like fine wine. He could get a good match out of anyone no matter their size or skill level.
I wonder how many years Bret would have still been able to perform at the level he did had he not got hurt.

Tough one, these are the two best in-ring performers/wrestlers I've ever seen - IMO. Bret is more the old school (wrestling-based, holds) to the new wave (mid 90s, up tempo, more movement) style, while Shawn was more the new wave (mid 90s) to present day style (high spots).
For me, I'll go with Bret. I feel is 1990-1997 is hard to beat, the number of great matches he had at that time were second to none. Shawn really moved up because of his later run, but I didn't really watch much at that time, mainly just his matches and a few others.

Bret quite easily. I always found HBK over the top, from his selling and movement in ring to his downright behaviour.

Hardest question yet by far & HBK has an unfair advantage because he was active longer & had more opportunities for greatness.....
Boy oh boy. Comparing their 90s singles runs? I gotta say this is a tie for me.
Both had excellent matches with
Owen Bulldog Austin Nash Hall UT Sid Walkman
Ya...I gotta go tie.

No thought needed it’s not even a contest. For me it’s Bret by a country mile all day every day. And I’m not taking anything away from HBK’s talent.
