Might be hard to believe, but I'm very excited for the Matt Borne episode!!!
I've really enjoyed this season so far probably because as a wrestling fan of almost 30 years stories like the Montreal Screwjob and Monday Night Wars have been told to death. However, I love how the spotlight is now on lesser known tales and talents like Magnum TA, the Graham family and Chris Candido.
This month marks the 10 year anniversary of Borne's death so the timing seems right to tell his story. Looking forward to it and hope you all are as well. 🤡🍿

Good episode this week. Just sad, one of those stories where you watch it and go only in wrestling. This guy was seriously mentally ill for 30 years, and it’s both why he was such a creative genius and why he struggled so hard in his life.

I watched the Doink episode and was aware of the drugs but was my first time hearing that he beat his gf's/wives(takes some of the respect I had down a little but won't say much else).

Just now getting through these. The Bruiser Brody one was really sad especially about his kid's picture and the fact that nobody said anything afterwards. Cowards, the lot of them.

No Dark Side of the Ring this week because of July 4, but it returns next week with an episode on Adrian Adonis. This has been one of the best wrestling programs on TV this summer.

I don't believe Abdullah the Butcher is illiterate. I met him & got his autograph. The man has amazing penmanship.
And Jesus Christ, the older Diamond Dallas Page gets the more he looks like the Toxic Avenger.

Bam Bam episode was pretty soft. When I was a kid, I never knew why Bam Bam Bigelow just disappeared from the WWF when he was over huge as a babyface. This was the first time I had heard and seen the quasi-shoot he had with Andre the Giant. The show shouldve mentioned why he had left the WWF in 1996 (pushed out by the Kliq) and the NHB fight he had with Kimo.

This BATB episode was not on par with other episodes but I enjoyed most of it anyway.
I actually find Russo to be correct in some things he says in general, and here I feel he was right to not placate to Hulk's ego and creative control, and to push the younger guys (Booker). But going into business for himself and shooting on Terry Bollea (NOT Hulk Hogan, no matter what Russo says), was just bad for business.
I also may have missed the part where Russo/Bischoff agreed to the Jarrett laying down part. I thought Bischoff and Hogan wanted X and Russo wanted Y and then all of a sudden Russo is saying that Hogan and Bischoff were on board with Jarrett laying down and leaving the building with the belt. I either skipped that part or they did?
Either way, the idea to have NO WORLD CHAMPION until Halloween Havoc is ridiculous. Bischoff and Hogan really thought that a 4 month tournament for the WHC would help the company? They literally tried that over October-November the year prior and it sucked.
Having no WHC for 4 months after the 13 title changes in the first half of the year and David f'n Arquette, would have been way worse.
Hogan and Bischoff love to throw shade on Russo but they are by no means booking geniuses.

I always figured Hogan and Jarrett at that show was a work.
Hogan came out for the match wearing no knee pads! He never does that for a wrestling match.
I really think that was supposed to be their version of the Montreal Screw Job but it came off just a much weirder more confusing way.

To prep for this I recently listened to Jarretts & Bischoffs respective pods on this. when you throw this mess of an episode into the mix its clear the narrative is always changing.
As I have said from day 1 with this..where was the money in this angle? It certainly wasnt in Russo feuding with Hogan which is where all this was headed before the screwjob.
I can see this from both sides. If I was Hogan I would want to know what the plans were for me going forward. Being told there was none? wasnt going to suit ANYONE in his position. Sting, Flair, Goldberg insert a top tier guy here...none of them would want to hear that. But this tourney thing Hogan was suggesting was rubbish too. Russo showed zero aptitude for booking one a year prior(which is strange because most give him credit for Deadly Games...including Prichard) so why was it going to reverse business here?
I understand Russos frustration here...he wanted to push the younger guys but as this entire issue showed? He hadnt one f*cking clue what he was doing. If he had? He would have been able to work out using Hogan AND pushing the young guys. also? he had ALREADY done a screwjob angle at Starrcade 99 FFs....

In the fall of 97, Russo joined the booking team and Cornette went over the notes a few times and all Russos suggestions and it’s just hot shot booking and turns. Except him suggesting putting Jessie James and Rockabilly together as a tag team. Which Vince and the others liked and went with. Cornette said Russo had a ton of ideas but had guys like Vince to pick the best ones and Bruce to tweak his ideas, but once he went to WCW he had no filter and everything he thought made it to tv.

Well.... The Marty Jannetty episode was a great way to end the season!
I believe Marty did murder that person, especially when Al Snow says that Marty told him that story back in the 90s when they were partnered up together
But I believe that the drug dealer may have raped Marty which caused that murder. I know Marty said he tried to rape him and he fought back, but for how messed up Marty is with drugs over the years it makes me think he was raped and that he did murder that drug dealer.

So...dont expect a Mattel Marty Jannetty figure anytime soon.
