I'm running out of space to store boxed figures..... and I like doing figure-photography; so I open most things, with a few exceptions; * I have an extensive collection of autographed figures - if it's something I think I might like to get signed (and it's reasonably possible) I will keep it packaged; * If the packaging is unique or special, I will often keep it packaged; SDCC Exclusives and Coliseum Collection typically fall into this category; Every now & then.... something falls into BOTH categories!

100% MOC for me.
But I like seeing different collections, so MOC or loose, whatever makes you happy. No right or wrong way to collect, as long as you collect for you, and it makes YOU happy!

I play with them sumbitches like an absolute creep. My collection is literally the stuff I dreamed about as a child, which is why I collect in the first place. I have an entire arena setup that was my dream as a kid. It would be a disservice to child me not to be getting as much out of these beautiful creations as I possibly could.

I wish I had some more MOC Hasbros, but unless the packaging is better than the figure itself, I just don’t get the appeal of having a figure you can’t handle and pose.
But, I’ve been collecting for about 35 years, so the space issue makes the decision for me anyway.

I have loose, MOC, and Faux MOC. You’re not a real collector unless you have it in the unopened shipper

Was doing both. MOC was based on whether the card was damaged or not. Though they started to take up a bit of space and the little fella really wanted to play with them. I like to say the little fella wanted to play with them, but really we both wanted to play. Eeuuwww... TMI, mate 🤭.

Moc … Not for the reason of reselling, I buy to collect not to resale later on … To me the packaging is part of the figure & it just looks better in it … I don’t worry too much about the space because I don’t have or buy a whole lot of them, matter of fact they’re all in storage at the moment Ditto. I have a MOC collection going back over 30 years... most are in storage though. If I do get the urge to open or play with any new figure (eg. UE Hollywood Hogan), I just buy another one to open up. I know a lot of people/loose collectors think us MOC'ers are weird, but I've always loved the packaging... even as a kid, I used to keep all the Star Wars cardbacks and boxes, lol.

I do wish more figures had the option to do both like the CC.
Speaking of which, is there any kind of defender case for those? I’d like to hang my set on the wall when I’m not using them for photos, but the lack of peg holes or J hooks is a real bummer.

i open most of them, but do have several that i haven't open for various reasons. depending on what figure line it is..some will get opened eventually and posed on a shelf, some are staying moc/mib and displayed, and some were bought for the sole purpose of being possible trade bait down the road. but for the most part, everything gets opened almost immediately and then added to my displays

Still have most of the cards from my TMNT figs from when i was a kid and some are still sealed that a had a extra of. When I think of the Turtles or Ghostbusters figures from my childhood, I remember the beautiful packaging as much as the figures. I get that might make me weird to most but I collect for myself. I mostly collect MOC but if I really like the figure I might buy a extra to open. Probably about 90% of my collection is on card. Another huge thing for me why I go MOC more is trying to dust a loose collection, I don't have a percentage of a loose collection as I see most on here and I can't stand trying to dust everyone. I mostly just use the spray air(or whatever you call it)but I have pretty bad OCD and dust them every couple days and that gets costly after a while. I've seen from pics on here some of the accessories when they get dust on them turn different colors, that would worry the h*ll out of me if one of my older figs gets messed up and I gotta replace it because of something like that. I know I can always just get glass cabinets but I don't live near a Ikea and they can be pretty costly if you're buying that many elsewhere.

Both! I typically open common line figures but special editions and/or exclusives I will keep MOC (unless I buy two).

You buy it bc you like it in package ... but it's stored in a container. Not trying to start up anything, mind you. Just curious. Are you in between moves? Why would you buy it then put it away? Perhaps you'll have a larger place one day with a room dedicated to your collection? That could be cool. With all due respect … They’re in storage for personal reasons I wish not to discuss on a public forum

Everything modern is loose. I like to be able to enjoy the figure and the detail.
I have some older BCA figures on card. They're relatively cheap and eventually I hope to have a few pegs set up in my display room to recreate the nostalgia of walking into TRU and seeing filled pegs. But for modern stuff, there isn't the same appeal to keep things carded.

I have many loose figures in my collection but most of what I buy now is kept MOC, unless it is something like a BAF where I have to open them to get the extra figure. And if it is something I really like in rare cases I may get two and open one. My reasons for keeping stuff MOC are:
1. They usually look cool in the package, especially things like exclusives or boxed sets. 2. The packaging acts as protection for the figure. I've had loose figures fall over and get scuffs on them, and while a MOC figure might get some dings on the package the figure itself stays mint. 3. Once you open a figure, you can never go back. I could always decide one day to become a fully loose collector, but if I open everything I can never put them back in the boxes. I've wished many times that I'd kept my Hasbros or LJNs MOC back in the day but it is too late.
Of course there is the added benefit that if you ever decide to sell something you'll get more for an unopened figure but that's never been my motivation for keeping them MOC.
