"On Sunday’s episode of WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures, WWE archivist Ben Brown announced that WWE has acquired the tape library of the Poffo family’s International Championship Wrestling, which ran from 1978 through 1984 and at one point was a major rival of Memphis Wrestling. Brown further noted that the tapes had been left in a storage locker for decades until WWE acquired them. Some 1983 clips were briefly shown and featured Bob Orton and Randy Savage. Lanny Poffo authenticated the footage on Sunday’s episode, which he declared to have not seen on tape before."
Thought this was newsworthy for some of you guys on here as I recall seeing people wishing this era had some more tapes on the Network. Hopefully we see them on there in the future. Are there any specific matches from that era that some of you are hoping are on those tapes? This is was before my time but will be great when I do my Macho Man deep dive soon so I'm kinda stoked for it as well. Didn't think watching older wrestling would still be as fun but the larger than life characters and stories make up for the lack of technical in-ring ability.

I doubt the ICW stuff will ever make it on the WWE Network. The hours of editing they will have to do with music dubs will make it impossible.
WWE has had Championship Wrestling from Florida for 20 years I bet. They would run the odd episode on the old WWE 24/7 network, but they can't even get any years of that up on the WWE Network either.

Plus no sign of Stampede after the whole Bret issue they had while back with him owning his matches/promos in the library

Exactly.
But they can put up episodes of Kayla Braxton hosting The Bump every freaking other day, and I can honestly say I never watched one full episode of that. All I know of it is what I have seen on PPVs or Pre Shows in what they show of it.
I want old wrestling I read about in the Apter magazines to finally see now on video, not hear how many dogs Bayley would like to own if she could.

Well damn, this is not good news. I thought if they owned the tapes they owned the rights to use them but I guess logos, music and so much more can be trademarked or copyrighted.

That Bump show is freaking terrible, yet it seems to be the main show the Network has, who actually tunes in for every episode of that? I ended my sub with the WWE Network last month and have just been watching classic shows on YouTube.

They had to have had it for a few months now. Because it (the tapes) were just on this past weeks WWE treasures show about Macho Man. And Lanny was still alive because they showed them to him and he said it was the first time he had seen that footage. Supposedly the tapes were in some oil company’s storage bin for decades. They were a sponsor or financial backer so they were given the tape as collateral or something.

It's time the wwe network gave some goodwill to the old school fans and added some (or a lot) of the mountains of classic content they own instead of this current/"original" show torture they think is entertaining This is the main reason I cancelled my subscription.

I can’t stand these BS interview shows that do absolutely nothing. Give me some old wrestling that I ain’t seen before. If WWE spent a tiny bit of their budget on the library’s of old school territories rather than paying 16 guests and 10 interviewers, then I’d be quite happy.

It was the Poffo family's own promotion and everybody associated with it has passed away sadly. This wouldve been great stuff for Macho Man Randy Savage's DVD biography.
