You know, that would be very Mattel If it is Ali, that I'm pretty sure was on no one's wwe figure want list, while we all wanted a dx/scsa Tyson and it's not him đ Very Mattel here if true. Iâd rather have Tyson, but if Ali Iâm very excited. Generational trash talker. Convicted felon Tyson? Odd pick.

Tyson is way more well-known for his WWF/WWE contributions than Ali. The stuff he did with Austin in 1998 literally changed the industry. Both would be great additions though in my opinion.

so correct me if i'm wrong here...but are people predicting an ali figure based off a couple appearances he made 40+ years ago? has it been said that wwe/mattel has the rights to his likeness? i might have missed something recently that would have people predicting it, but a muhammad ali figure seems a little too out of left field to be made...even as a comic-con exclusive You might've missed some of the posts in this thread but Ali was deduced from some things a couple of influencers had said, who may or may not have insider info I guess. That's it.

Completing the WM1 main event would be high on my list. I have zero interest in the Attitude era, and none in Tyson outside of NES Punch-Out.

Iâd love a Liberace with a little bell. Billy Martin is definitely not high on my wants but if they make the other two celebs involved then might as well. That leaves Snuka. I think Iâm OK with pretending he wasnât involved.

U have to remember there's a lot more attitude heads then that era. There's a reason why attitude era boomed and is the greatest era as far as fan support. Nothing against it though, just numbers don't lie.

So if the Comic Con figure is Ali it may just be that it was easier to license the rights for it than to pursue any alternatives this time around.

Wrestling was on network television in the 1980s, making it ore accessible than the cable wars of the 90s. Wrestling was watched by more of the general populous in the 1980s across the country, not just on cable between two promotions. WWE history revisionism at it's finest. With that said, there are probably more attitude era kids on this board.

Assuming it is Ali, people also have to realize that Mattel canât just make anyone that they want. Iâm sure they would love to make Rodman, Tyson, LT, Kaufman, Rose, Lauper, K-Fed, etc. but theyâre limited to only those talent WWE is willing and able to sign. Itâs not like they can go âwe wanna do Tyson and Austin facing off on Raw for next yearâs SDCCâ and immediately start working on it. Yâall have to know by now thatâs not how it works. Iâm sure Ali was one of many names of celebrities that Mattel has submitted. He just happens to be the one that WWE was able to sign.

I think the state of the business in the early-mid 90âs really puts off the illusion that wrestling was also struggling in the 80âs. It was not. The 80âs were booming.

Andy Kaufman is still my guess.Personally I would love Lawler Kaufman, 100 times more and itâs not Iron Mike. Kyle didn't say it wasn't Kaufman, he said he'd like Kaufman AND Lawler more.
Andy would have crossover appeal, although not as much as he'd have 20+ years ago.
Andy was certainly controversial, anyone watching variety shows in the late 70's and early 80's could hate his performance art style of comedy that was often meant to make the audience hate him.
I talked to Jesse Ventura and he agrees that Kyle's choice of words in that post is very suspicious and he also said something about not trusting people named Kyle.

Like with Kaufman I feel like the chances of his is estate signing some type of deal for figures is stuff is better than it has been for quite sometime, considering that they finally put him in the Hall of Fame and because they did the episode of Most Wanted Treasures on the last season focusing on him and Jerry Lawler. With Tyson I feel WWE would be very open to a deal, but knowing Mattel I imagine Mike Tyson is currently on a do not make list for the time being due to the new rape allegations and lawsuit against him that has been filed just earlier this year by the woman who has made the new accusations.

Are we talking about Ali in a dress shirt? That'd be pretty disappointing. And I have to agree. I'm sure he was on lists, but not high on most lists. I'd rather have Pamela Anderson or Jenny McCarthy. Ali is my favorite boxer of all time, but I have Starting Lineups, Mego, Upper Deck, and Storm figures of him. Him in a bow tie would be a big step backwards from the NHB set we got last year.

Ref will probably be in next yearâs WM lineup is what I am predicting.

When Hogan and Andre wrestled on network TV, they did a 15.2 (33 Million people watched that event).

People arenât dropping $1,000+ for something they donât want
