Remember how hyped this guy was? Every week there were vignettes teasing his debut and when he finally did appear he was put in a program with The Undertaker. Now, working with Taker was a new guys dream and yet Jones was not only paired with him, but was put in his corner at WM.
Afterwards he disappears until late 2003 were he returns as a heel in Lesnar's SS team. After that he disappears for good.
Now obviously things didn't work out but was he planned to be the companies next huge star? The hype of the debut and the program with Taker indicated that Vince had high hopes for him.

He probably was gonna be the next big thing but in the end he wanted out... he was lame anyways so it’s good that he left.

Awesome look that any promoter would love just too bad the bell had to ring.

Stone Cold and The Rock were out of the WWE that year, so Im sure Vince saw him as someone to fill their shoes. But yeah, Nathan Jones looked like Jason Statham but a foot taller and 200 lbs heavier and was just horrible in the ring. He was a legit badass and couldve done well in MMA, but he ended up having a nice movie career usually playing a humongous villain.

I believe they were gonna make him and Matt Morgan a heel team in late 2003 but that failed when Jones left.
I never saw anything special in him though.

The fact he didn't team with Taker at WM19 proves they had no faith in him in the ring. He also lacked personality which was a huge downer.

He was a monster and had a mystique about him. I was impressed as a 12/13 year old

The Beast of Boggo Road is still one of the worst nicknames I've ever heard.

I preferred Tyson Tomko, both brief runs that did next to nothing and both had the blandest ring gear but Tomko had a meaner look to me as a kid. I put those two, Heidenreich and Kozlov all in the same category of generic big guys in even more generic red ring gear. Could even go as far as putting Ahmed Johnson in there too.

Big things expected of Jones but as JR says? All over when he got in the ring & he couldn't handle the schedule.

The Beast of Boggo Road is still one of the worst nicknames I've ever heard. *The Colossus of Boggo Road (jail) 1000% legit badass, Undertaker loved him. He said wrestling was harder than serving time, I don't recall many others just dropping the ball on their terms against WWE like that before. They strapped the rocket to him (controlled by Taker) and he single handily just ripped it off. His movies are great too, big star in Thailand.

Nothing special.
Phenomenal look, but not an ounce of charisma and with absolutely zero passion it was doomed from the start.
Will always remember his spinning heel kick on the entranceway at WrestleMania XIX though. 10/10!!!

He was a monster and had a mystique about him. I was impressed as a 12/13 year old Same (except I was 9 when he debuted). He looked like he could legit kill you, but watching him in the ring now he was absolute dog shit.

He looked like he could legit kill you, but watching him in the ring now he was absolute dog crap. Oh yeah he was atrocious. I think the biggest thing to me was the mystery around the Mania 19 match. I’m aware now that he just wasn’t ready but at the time, I didn’t know what was going on especially since he did a spot in the match. The whole thing was weird If he worked half as good as he looked he could’ve been an all timer

I liked him in the Mortal Kombat movie. Even if he only had like 3 scenes.
