So I've been watching through some stuff in the 80's recently. I just watched the 89 Rumble. And I was wondering if anyone had a list of the key events to watch leading up to Wrestlemania. Thanks

The Main Event from February 1989 is the only thing you really need to watch.

I'll throw out PTW from 2-20-89
It's a 3 hour special show hyping up Mania with face to face podium interviews

I figured there had to have been a PTW episode hyping WM 5 but I didn't watch PTW then since I had no cable and plus I am Canadian so no USA Network for us, so I couldn't name off what PTW special there was for the hype.
I remember seeing on Superstars or Challenge them talking about the PTW episode special before the PPV and it used to be make me angry that I couldn't watch it! Ha ha ha

Out of everything I missed before I started watching wrestling it is seeing the Mega Powers explode as it happens I am most bummed out that I missed out on seeing live as it happened. I got into WWF after WrestleMania V.

Wrestlemania V was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I would rent it from the video store a few times a year. I like how the lighting of 5 was a bit brighter than 4 but both fit the show well. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought those steps were a few dozen feet in the air but when you see pictures of the convention center it's not high at all. I also liked how there was a small exit off to the left side where you saw a few wrestlers leave the ring area though that was mostly 4, not 5.
5 was what 4 would have been if not for the tournament and battle royal. Almost every wrestler was used. Only ones I can think of who weren't were Danny Davis (maybe in between heel/face turn), Koko (may have been let go), Genius (in between face/heel turn).
WWF jam packed almost every wrestler on cards back then and it was still great.

After Mania he would be back in the ref role Koko was still there but just not used for one reason or another. He did nothing of note until they gave em his ''Bird Bird Bird'' theme in the Fall And Poffo just started his Genius character on the house shows prior. First vignettes though would air after Mania
