I was at the USS Intrepid that day and when Lex Luger came in from a helicopter at the end, people were shocked and popped huge even though they thought it was going to be Hulk Hogan at first, especially when Luger was still the Narcissist on an episode of Superstars that aired the day before. I thought it was a great face turn and Made in the USA Lex Luger was one of few things I liked about the New Generation Era. Luger's A&E Biography explained why things didnt end up working out.

Call me when it’s the 30th anniversary of the great Yokozuna rightfully retaining his championship at Summerslam and proving the “I’m an American from America” beating the “foreign threat” should have stayed in the 80s. As a 13 year old this took me by complete surprise because the last time I had seen him he was the selfish self obsessed Narcissist at KOTR....now hes this awesome good guy?
It worked at first but like Cornette, Bischoff, Prichard & JR have said? Lex really struggled portraying a white meat babyface because he was an aloof kind of guy in real life. As often discussed on here? Not beating Yoko stopped him dead in his tracks.

I can still hear that scepter shot from RR 1991 Piper on the call was great too. The Wrestlemania 7 match is the only Warrior match I enjoy, and obviously love the ending, but boy do I wish we got more of the Macho King. Randy was just the perfect heel. |
