Hey All - I’m 4 figures away from completing a loose collection of WWF action figures. One thing I’m still struggling with is Tatanka Series 6 & 9 and Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon that re-released in series 10.
It’s a loose collection, so I get to just buy doubles of these 3 figures, but it just feels strange to me. You really can’t know for sure what series these figures actually are. Is it silly to not consider the set actually complete until I buy these all MOC?
What are your thoughts on the mailaways? They are super expensive at this point and I haven’t seen a Bret Hart still in the plastic for sale in quite some time. I can only imagine how much that would run today.
How much would Kamala MOC moon belly run today? I see one available on ebay, but does anyone know if that’s legitimate?

In a loose collection I wouldn't bother with the re-releases.
The Moon belly Kamala is probably the fake one; it's been on ebay for ages.

I wouldn't see any point in getting doubles of the re releases, especially since you collect loose. It's completely pointless to me, but that's just me.
The mail away's are a different animal. If you're going for a complete 100% Hasbro collection then I guess you would include them, but they're so expensive right now it all comes down to you and if you choose to go for them.
Moon belly Kamala, if you thought the Mail away's were expensive then take a second mortgage for that one.

The only re-releases I think are worth it are Demolition Smash and then the various reprints (Bushwhackers, Purple Razor, Black and silver Shawn, etc.). I mention Smash specifically as I prefer to display a set with and without masks.

The only must have mail away is Hogan.
Purple Heart Bret and a slightly different hair colour on Undertaker aren’t really unique releases, just variants.

Someone is going to feel defrauded by clicking “Buy It Now” then realize it’s not even an original. Also the price keeps moving up on the item. It wouldn’t shock me if it’s someone who owns a real one and is just trying to influence the market, lol. Another issue I’ve been seeing is people selling the plastic covers for the MOC figures, but they make it look like it’s a rare figure by the first photo. You need to really read to realize all they are selling is the covers.

Would you consider this a complete Hasbro set without them too?

S1 is the darker one, the tag set is a brighter shade. And as for mailaways, I think most collectors would need a Hogan to consider it complete, at least for me that is. Taker and Bret though, no way. Not worth it, Bret is identical to the carded one, and Taker just has a different shade of hair.

Personally I would consider a complete hasbro collection to be all the figures available in a retail environment. I’d consider mailaway to be bonus.
Similar to how I wouldn’t consider a classic superstars set to need to crazy low number ones like the piper with gloves etc
Even when they were considerably lower I wasn’t fussed with them, I can recall hogan for £100
Especially since the mailaway were somewhat random, Im sure I got hogan 2 as a mailaway for example from a silver vision vhs thing and this would’ve been probably around the time of series 7 / 8 so I assume they either ran out or sent whatever random figures they had left?

I'm with this poster -- if I had every retail released figure, I would feel I had a complete set. Wouldn't need the exclusives. Others will disagree!

That’s part of the fun - the ‘rules’ we make for ourselves etc Like with mattel who’s roster is so exhaustive I find how people curate their collections to be more interesting than a full set but a full set of hasbros (pre pandemic) was pretty easily achievable bar the green cards being a bit pricey
