I would like to thank Mattel for never doing the limited run BS the others guys are doing. Thank you for never doing anything like that other than the 1 of 1000 bonus belts and chairs. Dog bless 🙏 I really liked the chase Slammy figures. Yeah those were cool. Because they weren’t super limited

it definitely feels like a lot less was shown this year than usual. especially in terms of current talent. i think some of it is because we get these monthly things on WWE's site. but this ComicCon really felt Hogan-Heavy and also Attitude Era heavy...which, honestly I'm kind of tired of at this point. With them opening the door to RA era, I'd really like to see more people from the early/mid 00's I also wish we could get some NEW talent in the pool. Peter Maivia is great. Terry Gordy was a nice surprise but like, where's my ECW guys? where's more WCW 90's guys? are they all just being THAT greedy/stingy? does WWE just not want to make money? You can't tell me figures of most people wouldn't sell. There's not a lot of big names left, so we really are at a point where we need these other guys to build a better collection. Also why the lack of Kurt Angle and Steiners? They really don't have ANY planned outside of one Scott elite and the Angle Ultimate? They should be going balls to the ing wall with those guys, but instead we're getting another 47 Hulk Hogans, Bret Harts and Ultimate Warriors and dont give me "because they sell" Steiner will sell just fine. So will Angle. Everyone is selling these days. The pegwarmers are basics, top picks and wwe superstars. Legends are selling, mainline elites are selling. Just as much, if not more, than Hogan/Warrior and Bret. In fact the most recent Ultimate Ultimate Warrior is one of the biggest shelf cloggers/clearance fodder items in the line.

I wonder if all the influencers who flew out to cover this regret making the trip now. I really thought we would get one or two things a day revealed after Thursdays panel, but I was wrong.

I can't speak for them, but Bill and Steve seemed different when they were presenting the figures on the panel. Things definitely feel slower since that stage failed.

Also we didn't get a Cody with rubber chicken accessory.

If anybody was disappointed with the reveals this weekend, it looks like there are quite a few new names under Legends deals, though figures would probably be a year+ away for most. Al Snow Tom Pritchard Terri Runnels (there was a cancelled Marlena fig a few years back) Blue Meanie Stevie Richards Stan Hansen Sandman Juventud Guerrera Haku Dory Funk Rockin Robin Lelani Kai Spike Dudley Nova Haku Headbangers Tony Atlas Steve Blackman Ivan Putski And a few names who have been swirling around for a while who could pop up sooner Ivory Great Khali (still never had an Ultimate) Bubba Ray Dudley (Bill loves half tag teams...) Fit Finlay Johnny Rodz (has been signed for a while, don't think he'll ever get a fig) see this is what I don't get what is Mattel or even bill thinking of holding off on these names for if it's true because each one has been constantly asked for multiple times and not only that can have multiple use for many different figures And still sell great at retail if done the right way into the Legends the main elite top and ppv lines Al snow Avatar /Shinobi chase 97/98 attire / leaf Cassidy chase 00/01 black/blue pants chase Tom Pritchard multiple different looks Terri Alexandria York Marlena pms raw 02 interviewer Blue meanie ecw attitude era and bluedust Stevie Richards ecw/wcw chase attitude era debut Rtc raw 02/03 05/06 ecw return Stan Hansen one and done possible Legends chase Sandman ecw raw 97 wcw hak wwe 05/06 ecw return Juv ecw wcw unmasked wwe 05/06 ecw return Haku islander king meng early/late wcw attitude era return Dorry funk one and done Legends chase Rockin robin one and done Legends chase or possible 2 pack with kai Leilani kai one and done possible 2 pack with robin Spike Dudley ecw wwe debut 02/03 wwe cruiserweight tite run ecw return Nova ecw early/late chase Simon dean chase bwo return Headbangers multiple different attires plus flying nuns beaver cleavage and chaz singles and lo down run Tony atlas one and done Legends chase Steve Blackman a few looks could be done Ivan putski one and done Legends chase Ivory wwe 99 debut Rtc late attitude era run and ruthless era Bubba ray ecw wwe 99 debut blue camo white/grey camo red camo 02/03 raw solo run smackdown 04/05 Dudleys ecw return Great Khali one and done 06 Legends elite Finley early/late wcw and wwe debut Johnny rodz one and done Legends chase This is almost as bad as them having the rights to inoki hugh Morris public enemy and bill just straight refusing to not making them years ago Other than that Every single name I have found multiple uses for Mattel

Pure guess on my part, but I am wondering if several things have come together to put a damper on this SDCC with Mattel/WWE.
1. Rick Steiner's public relations issues since his incident. It feels like someone (most likely WWE instead of Mattel) basically put the kibosh on any talking about Rick Steiner. I fully suspect that there are more figures coming out, but they may just not be advertised, like what we saw with Ric Flair when the fresh backlash over the DSOTR episode hit.
So that may have removed seeing a Steiner Tag team set somewhere. They are coming, but they were not shown. That may explain a couple holes in some of the lineups.
2. Losing the Macho Man license. We have not had any 'official' word, and we may not, but it seems pretty clear that is the case. The most we will hear is going to be Steve saying something like the standard "if he becomes available to us again, we will get more Macho Mans out."
So that looks to be it for Macho Man (for now)
3. The crowdfunding failure. I really think they thought it was a slam dunk, and it turns out it wasn't. We don't need to get into the back and forth of THAT here, there is a whole thread already, but it does seem clear that the Mattel WWE team was counting on this to succeed. That really has taken the shine off the Wal-Mart Monday Night Wars line. Seeing it as part of the display but not commented upon at all made that clear. I was hoping they would pull something out and maybe sell it for a higher price - I would pay $600 for just that stage - but it wasn't to be.
I think all 3 of these things have put a damper on this SDCC reveal. Let's hope things pick up for Ringside Fest.

I honestly think you guys are clutching at straws or adding 2 + 2 and making 5.
Even with the lack of Macho Man figures, it would have been what, 2 new ones being shown? Wouldn't have made much difference, especially to all the Hogans being shown.
The crowdfund failure would have nothing to do with the spate of figures being shown. That's just nonsense. Their budget probably just got slightly bigger for figures because of it, so I doubt that they chose to show "less" because a crowdfund failed.
And the Steiners thing - nothing's a guarantee yet. They're not on Hogan/Macho/Warrior/Austin level. Since when have B-tier wrestlers had more than one figure in a calendar year this quickly? Not frequently, that's for sure. No-one is entitled to another slot shown at SDCC. And FTITL figures rarely get more than one figure in a year.
Plus they could easily be announced as Ringside Exclusives later this year.

I do think they should have got their main early '90's/tag-team look out first though (preferably as Ultimates), then concentrate on the others.

They almost always do this with newly signed guys. They come out with lesser desired looks first, then eventually get to the more favoured looks. This tells me they have many more planned. Just hope the Steiners keep respectable until that time. Really need a WCW Big Poppa Pump. Don't want another Jeff Jarrett on our hands.

I’m gonna give SDCC a B! I only collect Ultimate Edition legends.
The Pros - that UE Warrior is incredible!!!! 10/10 - getting us a UE 1997 Bret Hart so we don’t have to drop $250-400 on the DM. Scan is bad but overall this figure is a Pro IMO - the UE Yokozuna is beautiful!!! And the fact that we are getting a chase - UE Piper looks excellent - Hart Foundation as wave 4 of the CC is something everyone wanted - the Attitude Era figs look great - fun surprises like Fake Diesel and the Sultan
The Cons - that Kurt Angle singlet is horrible and looks like a 2000 Jakks figure. - that Bischoff scan and the Bret scan(s) - the WM X box set should have been an ultimate. - the Target box set….what was Mattel thinking with those choices - the SDCC exclusive (no one wants boxer Ali) - let’s take a break from UE’s of Hogan, Fiend, Warrior and Bret and let’s get some new talent into the Ultimate line….( bulldog, Vader, bam bam, M$M…..etc)
Overall it did feel like we didn’t get as much as we usually get but overall a good showing from Mattel and Steve, Bill and the team did a great job

Remember when mattel had the dudley boyz license for like 2-3 years and they never released flashbacks, lol. Same thing with Kurt Angle flashback elites. They finally got the license for angle back, they should be pumping them out like Hogan's & Rey's.
