I wonder if the new basics crotch piece is compatible with Elites? If they are hopefully gives more options for customizing. In the walkthrough Bill said they're on ball joint hips. So unless they're radically different than the Elites, they should be convertable. Cracking basic torsos is a nightmare though, so it may not be easy.

Random question, if you are an "influencer" are you allowed to give actual criticism? Or do you have to sugarcoat things? I kind of hate the term "influencer" too, it makes it sound like a shill/follow the leader type of thing. I'm calling them sponsored now

I think in one of his last videos he called out "influencers" for not giving honest reviews LOL.

I'm calling them sponsored now From what I've noticed, the reviewers I watched pretty much became much less critical of Mattel figures after they were invited during WrestleMania weekend. They jumped the shark for me when one of them tried to sugarcoat the issues with the torso selection for Elite 104 Solo. I'm not expecting reviewers to just rip these figures apart, but at least be honest with your viewers instead of *****footing around blatant issues just to push a discount code. At this point the only one worth watching is MetalDriver

Didn't realize Kyle Peterson would generate heat lol All things considered, he's actually not that bad, just not my go to guy for an indepth review. But in his defense, that's not his target audience

At this point the only one worth watching is MetalDriver I can see both sides. It's a lot harder to criticize someone - deserved or not - when you know them personally, they've done nice things for you, etc than if they're just some abstract corporate entity. That's the whole reason why companies do those events - even if there isn't an explicit arrangement, people are more likely to soften their tone after more personal gatherings. I have definitely seen other product lines where the sugarcoated influencers get perks, and those who are more critical get iced out. But I'd assume every brand is managed differently. At the end of the day, I don't need someone to tell me if a figure is good or not. I've been in this hobby long enough and I can make that decision for myself. I do enjoy seeing out of the package photos/video, scale comparisons to other figures or lines, etc. But most "influencer" videos I watch are on mute and I'm skipping to what I care to see.

The purpose of an influencer is to get people to buy something. Why would that person crap on the product they are being "paid" to influence? Common sense people come on.
Let them be. Personally I couldn't care less what someone else says about a figure good or bad. I make my own judgements with my own eyes and brain....I don't ever and will never need someone else to give me an opinion. But that's not the world we live in anymore, and unfortunately people like me are the minority now. Kyle's a good guy, puts a lot of effort into his work and enjoys the perks of those efforts.
Mattel wants to send a few new figures out to people with big followings on the internet, so those people can review the product to literally everyone else that isn't on this forum or in "collector" groups. Their audience isn't sitting on an internet forum complaining about random part choices. Really not that hard to understand, and if you are so butthurt about them getting free sh*t, maybe you should stop and think WHY it's happening.....and if it mattered that much to you, you could change your attitude in life, start your own social channel, work to build your own following and then you could get free sh*t too

You can take this as me blowing smoke, if you want.
I have nothing to gain from sharing this.
You wouldn't believe how some of the most well known influencers in this space secretly bash plenty of Mattel figures. I have relationships with a number of them away from this board.
I recently had a dude who ranted on and on about a recent exclusive but publicly only posted positively about the figure.
Call them shills, I don't know. I'd do the same thing for free figures or any sort of compensation, really.
The day that Mattel told me they're sending me free waves of figures, is the day I stop complaining on this forum.
Just because these guys peddle figures does NOT mean that you have to buy them. I think having "anchor" people in our collecting world keeps the community better informed and growing all the time.

Xæro #FakeCollector I agree. The sad part is, it doesn't take a genius to realize how terrible that Solo figure is. He looked like he was on that Slimfast diet. Then you have people pushing the narrative to buy it because Mattel won't release another one for a long time. Metaldriver is my guy, I also like Alexwestcollects too who is a member here too. I usually just skim through videos to be honest. My mind is already set prior to watching videos. stc13 Same. I'm like buying 4 figures a year max. I really tune in to see closeups, scales, fixups, comparisons. I still think there's a way to promote said product and also be mindful of proper critique. I think it's all about wording. Crossfit Jesus Same. I prefer closeups of the figure, action shots etc. I'm using my discount code of WFIGS hahaha.

I really don't spend much time positively or negatively thinking about influencers to be honest, in the wrestling figure or any other space honestly. Most of the time any video I watch is just to see the figure in close up and etc. While I'll listen to their reviews, I really don't put much stock in them positive or negative. On the other hand, it doesn't bother me that they exist nor do I begrudge them for receiving sample figures or etc.
