Just something I've thought about recently. What is the criteria to be considered as having a "top tier collection"? What are the must haves to be on that level? We all have wrestling figure collections of various sizes and for various lengths of time, but what are the elements that you absolutely should have?

I think if you have a few "one of a kind" items it's a top tier collection.

My personal belief, is that that doesn’t exist. A collection is a personal piece, so what is “top tier” to one isn’t to another. Every collection is special to the person, whether they have 10 figures or 1000. That’s just my outlook on it. I don’t think you can say because someone’s got a rare or expensive item that their collection is suddenly better than yours. It’s yours, it’s what you’re happy with and what you want to collect and for why.

It's all subjective to what you want imo.

As a kid I thought I had one. A whole room dedicated to figures was unheard of in my friends group. But I had one at one point for many years.

With arena setups for RAW & Smackdown & displays for wrestlers on each roster. A makeshift PPV set/tron could also be brought in every month. No photos sadly as this was back when camera phones weren't really a thing nor did I own a disposable cam.

I’ve had some of the rarest and most valuable figures in my collection at one time or another. They all brought varying degrees of contentment. The wrestling figure I cherish the most is actually a tshirt series John Cena that my brother gifted me many years ago. That figure is top tier for me. I suppose I’ll reiterate what others have said, and that’s “Top Tier” is in the eye of the beholder.

I’ve got a lot of figures. Possibly over 1,000 with many exclusives, autographed figures, statues, carded Hasbros, etc
And if I had to show someone my favorite figure, I’d probably show them the Mattel Ultimate debut Kane
Edit: I do not have over 1,000. I’m clocking in at 729

It's all subjective, honestly. What's top tier to one person might be run-of-the-mill to another. As stated, when you have people who money is no issue at all for, then even the most rare and exclusive of figures are just figures.
For me, personally, it's figures that I've made myself. If I have a display with a bunch of customs in it, I want those to be front and center. My Owens/Zayn/Steen/Generico shelf is pretty much front and center for me because I've got several customs on there. At some point, when I get more shelves built, my McMahon figures will also be on a center rack. My "Samoan Dynasty" set is actually out in the living room. All of those are "Top Tier" figures to me because I made many of them.
But yeah. It's subjective for each person.
