Just found this thread. My stars, is it REALLY "work" to scan items yourself and put them in a bag? Talk about lazy. I'm surprised myself it has lasted. |

I don’t really like people, and I don’t like feeling like I’ll be judged for my purchase. So avoiding any unnecessary interaction works for me. I like self checkout.

I use self checkout a lot. Just know In advance that since I'm doing the same thing you pay people to do, and I'm not getting paid, I will be getting my employee discount.
And I'm not playing the "let me check your receipt" game on the way out. Wanna know that I paid for everything? Ring it up for me.

I dont understand the concept of "My time is valuable, Im not doing someone elses work"...So you stand in line, wasting YOUR time while you wait for some dimwit to check out a bunch of people when you could just hit the self checkout and be on your way. Like...your time is too valuable to just do it yourself but instead your pride will have you stand there and stare at junk magazines & stale candy bars? LOL

I never use the Self Checkout at Aldi since it doesn't take cash. I hate how Aldi has 3 regular registers and like 8 self checkouts

The Walmart near me did a remodel recently and put a crap ton of self checkout lanes in. Now they call the regular checkout "Assisted Checkout" with a huge sign that says that. It almost like they are trying to make you feel too stupid to use self checkout... or like you are an elderly or a handicapped person incapable of using self checkout.

If I'm just in the local shop getting a meal deal for lunch, or juice or whatever I've no problem using it. You wouldn't get me doing a full weeks shopping and trying to use the self check out though, always an issue with something you're getting and then you've got to stand there waiting for an employee to come deal with it. Nightmare.

I’m at cashier at Dollar General. That also means trying to stock selves and do other tasks while running back and forth to the register to help customers. I CRAVE a self checkout at our store. It’s no skin off my ass if people steal, my check clears.
