I've been thinking about this a lot lately and how we could bring back the crowdfund as a fan base. It seems that more people are actually interested in the figures that come with the set than anything else so why not an all figure crowdfund? What are five Ultimate Figures that you would be willing to pay over regular retail for let's just say five figures for 200 dollars. Let's post a realistic list and a wish list.
Realistic
nWo Takeover Ultimates
Hollywood Hogan with a tan Elite 51 Scott Hall Elite 16 Kevin Nash Big Poppa Pump (could be nitro stage figure) nWo Curt Henning
Wishlist
Best of WCW Ultimates Road Warriors Sting Lex Luger Arn Anderson or Nikta Kollof

Yeah, I've suggested this before - but we always get the same excuse of "crowdfunds should be for things we couldn't sell at retail" (...because we just see so many UE 5-packs/boxsets at retail... 😉).
Personally, I think there'd be much more interest for an exclusive set of figures than for giant stages and the like (which seem like a very niche market).

This would be a great idea! For the modern fans, you could do The Bloodline w/ Heyman.

Steve has already said countless times, multi-figure packs won’t be used as a crowdfund.

Steve has already said countless times, multi-figure packs won’t be used as a crowdfund. He has. But never say never... especially given the rousing success of the Nitro stage.

I'm in agreement, yeah a stage is nice, but most of us just want the figures.
A crowd fund box set could potentially include accessories normal ultimates couldn't due to budgeting.

Not against the idea, but as much as ppl complain about repaints, I don’t see them paying over $200 for 5 repaints, ppl here definitely would come with their spoons and forks raised high then.

Just the way Steve explained their stance and thought process on what a crowdfund should be… multi-figure packs don’t fit their vision.

I don’t think they would do this but if they did, I wonder if they could give us talent directly on Mattel creations that might be seen as too ‘risky’ to have in toy isles at retail….a Val Venis? A Sabel? Gangrel with blood? Austin with blood?

There’s no need to crowdfund figures. What would the consumer be funding? An open preorder makes more sense for multipacks.

(genuine question). Don't they both need a certain number of orders/backers to make the item worthwhile and get it into production?

No interest whatsoever in crowdfunding A-listers and B-listers who have already had loads of figures and would sell perfectly well in regular channels, and I find even the suggestion somewhat irritating - this is not what crowdfunding is for. People coming along and listing their personal wantlist of The Rock and Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels in very specific attires, and acting like this is somehow a fit for a crowdfunding model is ridiculous.
I'm only interested in crowdfunding more obscure talent who might not sell through regular channels and who haven't had any/many figures. And honestly some kind of new strategy such as manufacture on demand process is probably a better idea than crowdfunding anyway, trying to hit minimums and the constant worry and disappointment of that.
Overall I don't think crowdfunding is the answer to many things in today's collecting climate.
